Nukumea Newsletter Term 1, Week 4

Our great start to the year has continued with everyone settling in well to their classes. The best part of my day is walking through each of the classes and observing some of the learning going on. All of our students are already showing great interest in their learning and are quick to discuss their lessons with me.

Our morning focus on literacy and numeracy has seen our teachers work out the strengths and next steps for each student in their class and these individual goals will be updated in Hero as we progress through the year. I have also seen some amazing art and technology happening in the afternoons. Some of our youngest students have even constructed a model of the Sky Tower far taller than they are!

Yummy Stickers

We are proud collectors of Yummy stickers at Nukumea Primary School which we then use to receive more sports equipment.

You can find these stickers on Yummy fruit at your local supermarket. If you purchase bags of Yummy fruit you may find labels to cut out from the bags that are worth 10 stickers. These stickers are put onto a collection sheet which then gets sent away in exchange for free sports gear for our school!

A good tip is to place your stickers onto plastic lunch boxes or water bottles during transport to school, if the fruit has already been eaten. Remember, the sticker must say ‘Yummy’ on it. Please bring them upstairs to Korimako and add them to our collection sheet.

Lost Property

This is now located in the library should your child lose anything. We encourage all items to be named so they can be returned to their rightful owner.

Come join us as we work with Oke Gardens to build new vegetable gardens for the school.

While Nukumea Primary School is a state funded school, voluntary school donations from our whānau community allow us to provide a wider range of opportunities for our students.

Your contribution will support many additional learning resources, digital technologies including iPads and Chromebooks, learning support as well as sports and play equipment. The donation amount for the 2024 school year has been set at $180 per student.

All donations are tax deductible: To receive a tax credit on your donation this year, payment needs to be made by the end of the financial year (Sunday 31 March 2024). Once payment has been made via KINDO you will receive a receipt that you can claim through the IRD website.

We hope that you all have a wonderful week. Keep smiling and enjoy this weather.
