PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family,

Over the past several weeks, we’ve taken time to review the results of our recent security survey, and we want to thank all of our families who shared their thoughts and feedback. Your input has helped guide important next steps for our school community.

Survey results overwhelmingly supported the addition of a full-time School Resource Officer (SRO) at St. Cecilia, and we are moving forward with plans to make that a reality beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. This addition will result in an increase in the family fee, and we wanted to share this early so that families can plan accordingly.

We remain deeply grateful for the Broussard Police Department’s continued partnership, especially their presence during our School Masses. At the same time, we recognize that parents desire a more regular, consistent presence on campus—and we agree that this is an important step toward providing additional peace of mind for our families. We are also exploring the possibility of having an officer on campus for the second semester of the current school year.

Thank you for your trust, your feedback, and your partnership as we continue to make the safety and well-being of our students our top priority.

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

ANNOUNCEMENTS

A Fond Farewell and Heartfelt Thanks

We are deeply grateful for Marsha Granger’s 13+ years of dedicated service to St. Cecilia School and Sacred Heart Church. Her professionalism, friendship, and commitment have touched so many lives, and we will cherish the memories we’ve shared. She will remain with us through the end of 2025, and we wish her all the best as she embarks on this new season with her family and growing business. We ask for your prayers during this time of transition.

If your student is in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, or any of the Junior High Art Elective classes, they have artwork waiting for you to view on Artsonia this year. All of our students are incredibly talented and creative with their artwork. If you have not already given permission for their artwork to be viewed, you can click the link below. Only students whose parents have given permission are viewable by anyone. 40% of parents have given permission so far, and I would love to see that number higher!

Carline and Walker Safety Reminders

Parents, we need your help to keep our morning arrival and afternoon dismissal safe and smooth for everyone. Please take note of the following procedures:

Car Riders:

Use the horseshoe drive behind the One Heart Building for all car riders. Do not skip it. Following the designated carline route ensures consistent traffic flow and greatly reduces hazards. Please see the map linked below for reference.

Walkers:

Please walk up to the crosswalk near the sign out at the back of the Administration Building to meet younger students at dismissal once you see them exiting the building. We know the shade of the tree at the front office is nice, but our younger students will not be permitted to walk alone into the parking lot. Meeting your child on the sidewalk allows staff to maintain supervision and ensures everyone leaves campus safely. Your cooperation keeps all of our students—and you—safe. Thank you for helping us maintain a calm and predictable dismissal routine each day!

The SCS Advisory Council consists of elected and appointed members of our community who provide expertise and advice to the local pastor/chancellor in accordance with the Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church, the Synodal Law of the Diocese of Lafayette and the Regulations and Policies for Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Lafayette. Thank you to our 2025–2026 Advisory Council for their leadership, guidance, and dedication to helping St. Cecilia School soar!
