Wind Ensemble UIL 3/27 and Dallas Winds Invitation 4/3

UIL concert and Sight-Reading contest for Wind Ensemble will be held on Friday, 3/27 with a 1:25pm performance time at Wakeland High school. All parents, family and friends are invited for this performance. UIL Itinerary   Wind Ensemble will compete in the Dallas Winds Invitation on Friday 4/3. They will get to perform in the Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas. Playing in this world class concert hall is a once in a lifetime experience for most. This competition is free to attend and open to anyone so it’s a great opportunity to watch a concert in this extraordinary concert hall. Dallas Winds Invitations Itinerary.

Rogers Band Solo Contest

The Rogers Solo Contest is coming up on the evening of Wednesday, April 15th! This is an event for students who have prepared a solo either in their private lessons or in their band class. Performance times will be around 5-7 minutes long and range between 5:00PM at 7:30PM. Individual times will be assigned to each student as we get closer to the event.

The Spring is always a busy time for music with many contests and festivals to participate in. While more information will be coming out as we are closer to the actual dates, we wanted to keep you in the loop of what is ahead! Beginner 4th 9-weeks Project All of our beginners are starting to work on their BIG 4th 9-weeks pass-off project. They are working to pass-off major scales and also lines out of the book. We will keep track with a sticker/pass-off chart. This a great project that students can move at their own pace.

Welcome baby Ferris and long-term sub Ms. Sheats

First, we are excited to announce that Mrs. Ferris welcomed her baby on Sunday. Bennett David Ferris was born on Sunday 3-8-26 and Bennett and Mrs. Ferris are at home and doing well.   Second, we are happy to have Ms. Sheats as a long-term sub while Mrs. Ferris is out. She has been here all week getting to know the kids and teaching. Please see Ms. Sheats bio below.   “Samantha Sheats has recently graduated from the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She student taught at Richland High School and Rushing Middle School, under the direction of Dimitrios Icossipentarhos and Jarred Dodd. Prior to student teaching, she worked as a marching band tech at Prosper High School for the 2023 and 2024 season.   As a french horn player, Ms. Sheats has performed with various top ensembles at UNT, including the Wind Orchestra and the Concert Orchestra. Additionally, she has performed in the marching arts, marching with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, and Monarch Indoor Percussion.   Ms. Sheats currently resides in Denton, where she enjoys reading, thrifting and spending time with her friends and family.”
