Creative Writing Workshops Inspire Middle School Authors

Kimmi and Diane from The REV Theatre Company visited Otselic Valley to lead creative writing workshops for students in grades 6-8. During their sessions, students practiced using vivid sensory details to describe settings, created original characters, and developed engaging plots — all in preparation for the upcoming ECHOES Creative Writing Competition.

With guidance from The REV’s teaching artists, students explored new storytelling techniques and built confidence in their writing. They will now submit their own original pieces for consideration in the statewide contest, with the hope of having their work selected to be featured in a special performance later this school year.

The REV’s ECHOES program is one of the largest middle school writing competitions in the country, celebrating student voices and showcasing stories from across New York State. We are excited to see what our young writers create!
