Everbridge Alert System

In 2024, the Town moved from Alert Now to Everbridge for town wide emergency alerts. Unfortunately, we have become aware that most contact information did not transfer properly from the old system to the new one. As a result, we are only reaching about 700 contacts with each message sent, compared to about 5,000 contacts reached with Alert Now. As we are in the winter weather season, the Town’s ability to communicate information about weather, shelter and storm recovery to our residents is critical. If you have not already signed up for Everbridge, please go to www.newfairfield.org and click on the “Sign up for Emergency Alerts” button on the homepage. (Tip: to view the desktop version of the website on your mobile device, turn your device to the horizontal position).

Military Hero Banners

PLEASE SEND IN YOUR REQUEST FOR A BANNER BY MARCH 31, 2026

New Fairfield is so very proud of all of the men and women who serve or have served in the military. We are currently taking orders for Military Hometown Hero Banners to honor and recognize hometown Veterans and active duty members of the United States Armed Forces. If you are interested in purchasing a Hero Banner to be displayed in the center of Town annually from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, please submit an application before March 31st. After that date, requests will be accepted on a year-round basis and banners will be printed when the required minimum quantity is reached.

Banners will display the official military photo of the service person, as well as their name and branch of the United States Armed Forces. We are asking sponsors to contribute $40 toward the cost of each banner. To qualify for the Military Banner Program, the honoree must be a Veteran or currently serving as an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces, and he or she must currently reside in New Fairfield or have an immediate family member residing in New Fairfield (parent, spouse, sibling, son or daughter).

You can complete the form and pay online for a banner, and then email or send in your picture – you can find the form on www.newfairfield.org, under the Selectmen's Office heading or click below:

You can also print the form or request a form from the Selectman's office and send it in or bring it to Town Hall. Digital photos, if available, provide the highest quality banner. You may email your photo to: jgreen@newfairfieldct.gov. Please bring in your form to Town Hall or mail your completed form and $40 check made payable to "Town of New Fairfield" to: Town of New Fairfield, Selectman's Office, 4 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT 06812.

**PLEASE NOTE**

As Public Works reviews the banners when taking them down after Veterans Day, they may note that some of them have become worn from the sun and the weather. After every season they will determine which banners should be retired due to excessive wear. It appears that the life of the banner is approximately 4-5 years. The banner placements are rotated so that one banner does not receive the same amount of sun, weather and wind in one location every year.

These banners show the respect of the Town of New Fairfield and its residents for each service member and, as such, when Public Works takes the banners down at the end of each season and notices that a banner has become too worn to be respectfully displayed the following year and should be retired, we will let you know. At that time, you can let us know if you would like to purchase a new banner or if you would like to receive the retired banner or both.
