MLS 2026 New Kit Rankings Ranking all 30 team's new 2026 kits

by Alex Gonzalez, News Co-Director

Between Feb. 10th and 11th, the Major League Soccer teams slowly began releasing one of their new kits to be worn during the 2026 and 2027. From the Olympics to retros to famous singers, these new kits are representing their city on all fronts.

Atlanta United

Spirit of '96 Kit

Marking 30 years since Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics, the design channels that event featuring nostalgic colors and energy, with a gold crest symbolizing victory.

The kit is very clean and the cream base, green stripe, and gold accents work perfectly together. The golden crest is the cherry on top to finish what's arguably the best jersey to come from the new wave.

Rating: 10/10

Austin FC

Rooted Kit

Austin FC's jersey incorporates vertical stripes by blending new shades of the team's signature verde with aquatic green. The look is inspired by the landscape and clear waters of Austin's local landmarks such as Barton Springs, Zilker Park, and the Hill Country.

Initially I thought this was a re-release from recent years. I love the green color, the crest looks very nice, and I actually want to like the jersey. But it just feels like another boring addition to the team's kits in recent years.

Rating: 6/10

Charlotte FC

Crowns Up Kit

Charlotte FC, now five years in existence, returns to a core visual that defined their team's initial days but also reinforces its vision to be progressive, collective, and ambitious.

Sometimes simplicity is better than extravagance, and this is the perfect example. It's sleek and simple with nice crown designs on the collar and cuffs. I think some black accents could've found a place somewhere on the jersey, but overall a great kit.

Rating: 8.5/10

Chicago Fire FC

Forever Red Kit

A modern update and an evolution of the team's popular Return to Red jersey, it refines the club’s iconic identity with classic red, a crisp collar, and sleeve details in the city’s colors.

I'm always a sucker for retro kits. The curve of the white stripe across is a small but important detail that pays homage to the team's 2000s kits. The collar is also a nice little touch. I probably wouldn't personally wear it, but it's a wonderful jersey nonetheless.

Rating: 8/10

FC Cincinnati

Seven Hills Kit

Inspired by the city’s namesake, Cincinnatus, and the seven hills that shape it, the design the Ohio River with navy and white details nodding to the city flag. A crown pays tribute to the Queen City.

It's a little different from typical kits, but also stays unique. I don't quite see how the city's seven hills were included in the jersey, but it doesn't takeaway from the cleanness of the kit. Only thing I might've changed was blue stripes on the shoulder.

Rating: 7.5/10

Colorado Rapids

Colorful Colorado Kit

The 2026 Colorful Colorado Kit pairs a new black base with vibrant accents of burgundy, blue, green, and gold, reflecting the state’s skies, forests, sandstone, and aspens.

For a jersey with the word "colorful" in its name, it's very lacking of color. I love the nods to Colorado that each color gives, but they should've been the focal point of the jersey. In past years, the Rapids haven't been afraid to wear some colorful and unique jerseys, so I don't quite see why they strayed away from it this time around.

Rating: 3/10

Columbus Crew

Crafted for Excellence Kit

As the first club to be announced when MLS was founded in 1996, the Crew is never short on history. This kit leans into it with a simple and elegant decision that also utilizes the city's flag.

Like Charlottle FC, sometimes simplicty is the best option. Sure, maybe a little more could've been done here or there, but I think the significance of the jersey and what it represents speaks for itself. Plus the collar is a good touch.

Rating: 7.5/10

FC Dallas

DNA Kit

The Hoops are back! Unveiled in 2005, one of the more distinct designs in MLS returns in red, white, and blue to honor the team’s roots with a nod to a new era for the Texas club.

I can see why fans grew restless to get the hoops back on the jersey, because it looks amazing. Horizontal stripes aren't usually anything to fan over, but the club's colors work amazing with them, and the thin white line breaks it up nicely. Even the sponsor works well with the stripes.

Rating: 9/10

D.C. United

Black-and-Red Kit

A new take on what has been of the league's standard looks. The black base with the red accents has been identifiable around the nation's capital since the league's founding.

Although the jersey is hardly different from the Rapids jersey, I'll give it more grace since it doesn't stray far from the club's usual design. Sure, it's a little boring. But it's a signature and expected. The colors work well together, reminding me of Darth Vader. The "D.C. United" hidden in the collar and cuffs also help out a little.

Rating: 5/10

Houston Dynamo FC

Mission Control Jersey

Inspired by the city’s legacy in space exploration, the design features a satellite view of Houston layered with a heat map that captures the energy of its fans.

I usually love when a team tries to be different and go for something unique, but this one has me at a crosshair. The concept of the city map and the heatmap to honor the fans is amazing, but the jersey itself just doesn't scream amazing. I think they did a good job with the idea, but they could only go so far with it.

Rating: 6.5/10

Sporting Kansas City

18th & Vine Kit

The 2026 18th & Vine Kit pays tribute to Kansas City’s legendary jazz district with neon-inspired accents echo the glow of historic club signs, while argyle diamonds honor K.C. music venues The Blue Room and the Gem Theater. It also features sheet music from "Kansas City (Here I Come)" inside the collar.

I still haven't decided what my favorite part about the kit is. I can't stop looking at how well the different colors of the diamonds work together, but I also can't stop looking at how well the light blue pops off of the navy. I would've liked to have seen the pattern extend to the middle of the jersey, but this kit is still one of the best.

Rating: 8.5/10

LA Galaxy

VeloCITY Kit

The Galaxy's trademark blue sash adorned with golden trim remains front and center of this look, but with a bolder look. The return of vibrant blue is meant to signal three attributes of the road ahead: bright, confident, and in constant movement.

Yet another simple but nicely executed kit. There's isn't much to say other than it's nice to see the traditional blue sash back after its brief hiatus. I think designers could've found a way to allow the sash to not get broken up by the sponsor, but it still remains one of the cleaner kits.

Rating: 7.5/10

LAFC

Art Deco Kit

LAFC's black-and-gold kit is inspired by the Grand Lobby of home stadium BMO Stadium, which in itself pays homage to Los Angeles' rich art deco heritage. As the team puts it, the pattern captures the glamour, optimism, and modernity that define L.A.

I'm trying to stay unbiased with this one, but I absolutely love it. The team has experimented with different patterns and designs on its black kits in recent years, and it seems like those all culminated into this beauty. I'm amazed the team hasn't already tapped into the city's early 20th century style known for its elegance and extravagance. This one is 100% on my wish list.

Rating: 9/10

Inter Miami CF

Presagio Kit

Lionel Messi and the defending MLS Cup champions will continue wearing a black kit that pops with pink accents. It's a steady holdover in a year where the team will inaugurate a new stadium in Miami.

I'll just say it straight: this is probably one of worst kits I've ever seen. It's just a black jersey with a collar and some pink. It looks like someone just downloaded a template, made it black, and threw in some logos. When you have one of the sport's greatest players ever on your team, you should have some good looking jersey to match him. Hopefully the team is planning to do something special for their inaugural season in their new stadium.

Rating: 1/10

Minnesota United FC

Decade Kit

The Loons have now celebrated a full decade in MLS, and this look revisits the club’s inaugural design with a modern edge. A bold black base includes the original blue sash, symbolizing the Mississippi River that flows through both the crest and the state.

Minnesota has consistency pumped out amazing kits, and this is no different. Their arctic blue mixes perfectly with the black base, and although I don't know the inspiration behind the pattern, it looks amazing. I understand the subtle black sash symbolizing the Mississippi River, but something about it is throwing me off.

Rating: 8/10

CF Montréal

Procure Jersey

The Canadian club's jersey is inspired by its 2015 kit and revamped with bold, organic stripes. The kit is also meant to raise awareness about prostate cancer and to support those who have been affected by the disease.

Unfortunately for Montréal, their simplistic design just doesn't hit the same as Charlotte or Columbus. I think the white base and blue accents actually look really nice, but the stripe patterns leave more to be desired. The kit is definitely better than some of the other ones, but the unfulfilled potential is hurting the jersey.

Rating: 7/10

Nashville SC

Reverb Kit

This is known as the Reverb Kit, and rightly so for the team that hails from Music City. This kit aims to capture "the electric roar of our supporters, the passion of our players, the remarkable music made in our city and shared with the world."

Contrary to most people, I don't hate this one. I think people are fair to comment on how the centralized crest and Adidas logo probably wasn't the best choice, but that's about the only thing wrong with it. The subtle green accents on the collar and cuffs are nice, and the barely visible sound waves offer a nice touch. I think if the crests were fixed and the sounds waves popped a little more, this could easily be a top 10 kit.

Rating: 7/10

New England Revolution

Independence Day Kit

An apt jersey to celebrate America 250. Inspired by patriotic bunting and July 4 fireworks that light the skies each summer, the Revs' jersey includes Heritage Tree and "Est. 1776" sign-offs. The jersey honors the region’s role in America’s founding and celebrates a milestone year.

If you've been trying to find my favorite jersey, then congratulations. There isn't a single thing I would change about this jersey. The rays of red fireworks plus the white firework accents are amazing. The red stripes and cuffs alongside the navy blue base to symbolize 4th of July's night sky is unrivaled. This is probably the best jersey I've ever seen from any team ever and is absolutely going to be the next jersey I buy.

Rating: 11/10

Red Bull New York

Rooted Kit

RBNY's kit reflects the club’s black and red palette with features that symbolize the literal roots and groundwork the team has placed since it was founded as one of the original teams in MLS. A bold look for a new era with former USMNT captain Michael Bradley returning to the club, this time as manager.

Here's a jersey that tried something unique and I think worked. Yes, there's a lot going on, but it's still somewhat clean. I think the beauty of it is how the design can either be interpreted as the team's roots to the city, or the team's blood running through the fans. It's not one I'd personally wear, but it was a creative idea that was nicely executed.

Rating: 8/10

New York City FC

All Nations Kit

The 2026 All-Nations Kit celebrates New York City as the world’s capital, a place where cultures, languages, and traditions converge. Inspired by the city's blue-and-orange flag, the kit reflects unity in diversity while metallic details evoke the Unisphere located in Queens – and close by NYCFC's future stadium.

Simplistic but impactful. The jersey doesn't have very much going on, but all the hidden meanings really speak for themselves. The pattern being made of diverse shapes but in a unified form representing New York City's citizens is a lovely touch, and the silver accents acting a nod to the Unisphere is another small touch with a lot of meaning.

Rating: 8/10

Orlando City

Sunken Treasure Kit

Did Orlando strike gold here? The Sunken Treasure kit dives into Florida’s storied coastline and the legend of the 1715 Treasure Fleet. Inspired by shipwrecks and sea exploration, this is the Lions' first-ever predominantly gold jersey – although the look includes trademark deep purple accents.

I love the story behind the kit and I really like the kit itself, but I just can't look at it and not think it's a keeper's kit. The pattern on the jersey is very unique and the purple accents are very nice. But I think many teams shy away from neon colored kits just because of the resemblance to keeper kits.

Rating: 7/10

Philadelphia Union

1776 Kit

The 1776 Kit honors Philadelphia’s role in the United States founding and its enduring spirit of rebellion and unity. Inspired by the city’s architecture, documents, and icons that shaped the USA, the design features a "1776" jock tag and the club’s signature "Join or Die" emblem.

Another nod to the U.S.'s 250th anniversary. Where the Revolution chose to represent a modern scene, Philadelphia chose to show us the past. The images of the city's historic architecture, documents, and history are incredibly unique, and it works so well since it doesn't pop out too much. The jersey's deceptive simplicity is unlike any other we've seen, and it's a jersey many teams can learn from in the future.

Portland Timbers

Civic Stadium Kit

The kit celebrates the 100th anniversary of Providence Park, home of the Timbers. Drawing from the stadium’s arches and 1920s architecture, the design weaves intricate patterns and alludes to the ivy that climbs the stadium walls in the heart of Soccer City USA.

This one really breaks my heart. In recent years, Portland has put out some of the best designed kits I've seen. But this one just isn't it. I understand its significance and what it's trying to celebrate, but the execution wasn't there. Like Orlando, I just instantly think it's a keeper kit as soon as I see it. I think sticking to a darker green base would've been a huge upgrade for this one.

Rating: 5.5/10

Real Salt Lake

Switchback Kit

The 2026 Real Salt Lake kit pays tribute to the landscape in Utah, including the towering mountain ranges that define the Beehive State. Details honor the Wasatch Mountain range that surround the team's stadium.

After Real Salt Lake's last primary kit, it was impossible for them to stoop any lower. Not only did they hop that small bar, but they leaped over it. This kit, like Dallas, is amazingly clean and is fortunate enough to have a red and blue color scheme. The gold offers amazing accents, and the subtle mountains in the red stripes are the cherries on top.

Rating: 9/10

San Diego FC

Unprecedented Unity Kit

The team will enter its second season in existence with a kit that is inspired by the shared culture of San Diego and Tijuana. The SDTJ jock tag, crafted by local artist Pigmento, symbolizes the daily exchange between both cities, further highlighted by the "Sin Fronteras" emblem.

At first glance, I thought this was Cincinnati's new kit, and I don't mean that was a compliment. I understand the team is less than 3 years old and haven't quite found their identity yet, but this feels like a good representation of what their identity isn't. The color scheme isn't remotely related to their team's typical colors and I'm struggling to see the connection to Tijuana.

Rating: 5/10

San Jose Earthquakes

The Grateful Dead Kit

Featuring the Grateful Dead’s most recognizable marks, this kit honors the legendary group’s first 1965 show in San Jose. The kit is inspired by the band’s psychedelic roots with a tie-dye design bursting with bright pastel color.

I've heard pretty mixed review on this one, and I can totally see both sides. Some think the tie-dye just doesn't fit, but I disagree. I think this kit is able to try something new without straying too far, and at the same time honor the Grateful Dead. The pastel colors work a lot better than I would've imagined, so props to the design team.

Rating: 8/10

Seattle Sounders FC

Evergreen State Kit

The Evergreen State Kit celebrates the state of Washington and the Sounders. The design embraces simplicity and pairs the team's signature Rave Green with subtle blue accents that mirror the area's forests and waterways.

Simple and classy. The Sounders rarely need to try anything crazy since their green and blue always work so well together. Maybe a subtle tree pattern could've been implemented somewhere, but jersey still lets the colors speak for themselves.

Rating: 8.5/10

St. Louis City SC

Tina Turner Kit

The kit pays tribute to the Queen of Rock, Tina Turner, and the city where she became one of music's most recognizable voices. The jersey incorporates gold with the team's red accents – an nod to Tina’s style and signature red lipstick and nail polish.

Another one that I think most people are giving too much hate. I honestly doesn't see anything wrong with the kit. The gold base is something new that I love, and the red accents honoring Tina Turner's lipstick and nail polish shows how much care and attention to detail went into the kit. I'm not quite sure what the pattern is supposed to represent, besides that the jersey is pretty good.

Rating: 8/10

Toronto FC

Winter Kit

Toronto is a city shaped by six distinct boroughs, and this kit recognizes that with stripes down the middle for each of those neighborhoods.

Not much to really say about this one. Toronto typically keeps their jerseys really simple, and often boring. Their latest one is lacking, but is still able to look clean, and the six stripes representing Toronto's six neighborhoods is a subtle but nice touch.

Rating: 7/10

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Coastal Kit

A deep navy base reflects the power of the Pacific Ocean, while peak-inspired details on the collar and cuffs honor the mountains that frame the Canadian city's skyline.

Possibly the perfect example of simplicity done right. Supported by an amazing color scheme, the kit lets the navy blue stand strong with simple yet appealing patterns on the collar and cuffs. It may be one of most simple jerseys released, but it remains one of the best.
