30 for 30 Walking Challenge
It is not too late to join our online Walking Facebook group: 30 for 30 Walk-a-Weigh! The goal of our page is to inspire participants to walk 30 minutes per day for 30 straight days. We started this challenge in November but are continuing it for the remainder of the year so start now and join us from December 1 - December 30 to get your #30for30. Last "Extension At Home" Workshop of 2024
The "Winter Blues" effect both individuals and those around them. Learn more about this seasonal affliction and how to manage it. Join us for this virtual workshop IN-PERSON at the Person County Auditorium on Tuesday, December 10th at 12:00pm. You must register for this workshop ahead of time. Cost is $5 and is due by December 6th.
This workshop is part of our Extension At Home series, offered on the second Tuesday of each month. So, if you wish to attend this workshop virtually instead, register for it at go.ncsu.edu/winter-blues
"Substitute for Fast Food" Webinar
We all have busy lives and sometimes we don't make the best choices. But, having little time does not mean you need to resort to fast food. Join us on Thursday, December 12 at 12:00 p.m. for this virtual workshop to find a "Substitute for Fast Food" . We will talk about meal planning, convenience foods, build a healthy meal, making action plans, and preventing chronic illnesses through exercise and healthy eating. Workshops Scheduled in 2025
Join us on Thursday, January 9 at 5:30pm at the Berea Branch Library for our "Healthy Living for Your Brain & Body" workshop. We will provide information on the research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.
Many exercises can be done easily at your home. Physical activity is a part of good health and well-being. Come and learn how exercise is within your reach today. Join us on Thursday, January 30 at 1:00pm at the South Granville Public Library for this "Exercise Within Reach" Workshop.
The Person County Cooperative Extension Service and the Person County Health Department will be hosting the Living Healthy with Diabetes program. It is a FREE 6 week program developed by the Self Management Resource Center that will help you manage symptoms including fatigue and depression, improve your communication skills, use relaxation techniques, eat healthy, use medication effectively, monitor your blood sugar, and set goals. This program will be held on Tuesdays, February 4 – March 12, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m at Person County Office Building at 304 South Morgan Street in Roxboro
The Person County Cooperative Extension will be offering an in-person “NC Safe Plates” for all those who work in the food service industry. “NC Safe Plates” will be offered at the Person County Office Building on Wednesdays & Thursdays, February 12th, February 13th, February 19th, and February 20th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day with the exam on Thursday, February 27th, 2025. Participants who pass the exam will receive a certificate required for inspections. The registration fee is $150 and is due by Wednesday, January 29th along with the registration form.
