CPD Region XII sets direction on Regional Population and Development-Plan of Action 2023-2028 with program partners

Regional Director Garganian presenting the RPD-POA 2023-2028 during the orientation-workshop

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region XII started the year 2024 with an orientation-workshop among the regional and local program partners on the Regional Population and Development – Plan of Action 2023-2028 on January 25-26, 2024 at Anchor Hotel, General Santos City.

CPD Region XII Regional Director Desiree Concepcion U. Garganian, in her message to partners, underscored the importance of fostering collaboration across all levels to achieve the goals and objectives of the population and development agenda for the year 2024 until 2028.

“The PPD-POA highlights the critical role of the commission in collaboration with the national and local governments, and civil society organizations and development partners in optimizing available demographic opportunities and in responding to interrelated population and development issues to enable and empower Filipino families and communities to have a better quality of life based on their aspirations”, Garganian said.

Furthermore, the PPD-POA serves as a guide for various stakeholders in managing the country’s demographic situation and in addressing population and development issues in support of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

Contextualizing the PPD-POA, the population and development situation in the region was presented as basis for the regional and local government partners of the agency in identifying, aligning and/or integrating their plans to the eight (8) core strategies of CPD Region XII’s POA for 2024-2028. These partners include representatives from various Regional Line Agencies such as NEDA, DOH, DEPED, DSWD, TESDA, DOLE, DA, DTI, NNC, NCIP, and NCSC, FPOP (CSO partner) and Population officers and workers from the City and Provincial Population Offices.

Moreover, the accomplishments of partners highlighting their contributions to the RPD-POA will be regularly monitored and consolidated, with high hopes that it will truly contribute to the thrusts and directions of the region on population and development, gearing towards the attainment of the AmBisyon Natin 2040 wherein all Filipinos enjoy deeply rooted, comfortable and secure lives (Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na buhay para sa lahat).
