BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The St. James Sharks boys volleyball team went 1-1 this past week, falling to the Carolina Forest Panthers before rebounding with a solid win over the Conway Tigers. The Sharks showed strong composure after the early loss, finishing the week on a high note. St. James now turns its focus to the final stretch of region play, with key matchups ahead against the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs and the Socastee Braves.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The girls volleyball team improved their record to 13-9 this week with wins over Carolina Forest (1st time in 9+ years!!) and West Florence. We wrap up the regular season at home next week with NMB Tuesday and Socastee Thursday (senior night).
CROSS COUNTRY
The city of Conway and their high school campus are all decorated for Halloween. “The Fastest Fins on Two Feet” was the real nightmare for the Tigers’ cross-country team. The Lady Sharks posted a perfect score of 15. Winning 15-50. The boys' team were missing three top 5 runners and still managed a 27-32 win.
Marlee Schuping (21:12), Mackenzie Johnston (21:14), Maryn Schubiger (22:06), Brandy Betancourt (23:11), and Sydney Beadle (23:11.1) created the Lady Sharks perfect score by placing 1st-5th overall. This is the second week in a row a Sharks Cross Country team had a perfect score against a region opponent. The boys were led by Tommy Jensen (18:09), Zaccary Wilkinson (19:03), Archer Hynes (19:50), Paulo Andrade (19:50.9), and Rowan Finney (20:16).
The Sharks host Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and Aynor next Wednesday.
FOOTBALL
Congratulations B-Team Football team! Last night’s rain did not slow down the sharks’ precision! They were at their sharp shark best last evening in their game against Ocean Bay Middle School which earned the B-Team sharks the win with a score of 8 - 22. The team was focused on being at their best and it was awesome!
A special thanks to our head coaches for B-Team football and B-team cheer, Mr. Chris Davidson and Ms. Ashley Adams, for their leadership with our athletes.
Get ready, Sharks! Our Waterway Trophy game against Forestbrook Middle School is taking place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Both our JV and Varsity football teams lost close games to Myrtle Beach. Both teams look to bounce back this week against Carolina Forest.
Competitive Cheer
Shout out to our JV and Varsity competitive cheer teams who both took 1st place Saturday at the Fin Frenzy. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped out with this event.
