After a close win for the Aggies, I got a few behind the scene comments from Coach Long and his experience with the Aggies.
Coach said "the Mens defense was a little so-so in the first half, but after halftime the boys really locked in and executed the win."
Coach Long also mentioned "the culture and the sense of community coaching with the Aggies is unbelievable. I have been to a few different schools and I have never felt this energy anywhere else, it is a unique experience". Says Coach Long.
Coach Long states that he knew he wanted to be a basketball coach since he was in middle school. "I had an AAU Coach that I loved, he was a mentor and I would always say I wanted to become a coach and get guys to learn from my mistakes and help these men where maybe I didn't have the same kind of resources or help at that age and that morphed into becoming a college coach."
Coach Long says that his favorite part about being a coach is taking a young man who has the ability on the court and also helping motive him to apply that same ability in the classroom. "Taking a student who is not necessarily used to maintaining a certain GPA and you work with them, work with them, hold them accountable for study hours and you see his GPA jump up a bit and then fast forward 4 years seeing him walk across that graduation stage, thats just a unbelievable feeling." Says Coach Long.
