Happy Monday Dustdevils!

  • In advance of Spring Break (that’s March 10 -14), this week we’re hosting Spring Break Revolution. There will be awareness events, a health fair, blood drive, a Spring Break Bash, Surf and Strike Laser Tag and a Dustdevil Softball double header on Friday. It’s a great way to get ready for Spring Break, so enjoy the Spring Break Revolution. See full schedule below.

News to Use:

  • Maymester, Summer, and Fall schedules are now available. Set up advising appointments and register for classes with details here and on the Registration Hub.
  • Note: TAMIU offices will close for Spring Break on Friday, March 14.

Coming Up:

  • Coffeehouse Wednesday is March 5 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. in Student Center 114. Guest presenter will be Elena Guerrero, U.S. Border Patrol Agent – Recruiter. Agent Guerrero has 16+ years of experience in the Border Patrol. Prior to joining CBP, she served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Marine Musician, and as a Marine Security Guard in the Military Police.   • Faculty, the TAMIU Open Educational Resources (OER) Symposium is scheduled for Thursday, March 6 from 1 - 4 p.m. This online event is free but registration is required. This gathering of University faculty, The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and The Institute of Knowledge Management in Education will help build connections between our campus and the larger OER community.
  • The Spring 2025 Graduate School Open House on Thursday, March 6 in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Those who apply on March 6 will have their application fee waived. All applicants will be entered for a chance to win a $2,000 scholarship.
  • Dr. Alan Amling, a TED speaker and leading authority on supply chain transformation and digital disruption, will be our featured presenter at the 2024-2025 IBC Bank & Commerce Bank Keynote Speaker Series Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. This event is open to all and free of charge.
  • The UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) Open Tournament will be held at the new City of Laredo Tennis Complex at TAMIU Saturday - Sunday, March 8 – 9, 2025.
  • Also don’t miss Dustdevil Baseball and Softball games this week. Dustdevil Softball will be at home as they take on Midwestern State on Friday and the number one team in the country West Texas A&M on Sunday. Dustdevil Baseball travels to San Antonio March 7 - 9 for a four-game series against St. Mary's. See Game Schedules.

TAMIU Undergrad Receives Award at Student Conference

Natalie Walle Reyes was recently recognized at the TAMU’s Student Conference on National Affairs held February 13 – 15, 2025. SCONA has been held at Texas A&M University every year since 1955.

Natalie was part of a roundtable group focusing on North Korea. Her roundtable group came in first place for their presentation, "The Art of the “Really Huge” Deal: A Direct Engagement Policy to Stabilize the Korean Peninsula and Protect the Homeland. Natalie completed most of the graphics and design. Group members received a token of appreciation: an engraved silver coin.
