Newsletter Ysgol Deiniol 15th March 2024

To the members of the community: 2024 marks the 150 year anniversary of education in the village of Marchwiel and nearly 200 years of a school site being situated in the area. Friends of Deiniol PTA are working with Ysgol Deiniol to hold a celebration open afternoon on Wednesday 15th May 2024 3:15pm-6:00pm. We are hoping to put together a display of photographs or memorabilia of the school through the ages from pupils, teachers or associates who have been part of the school either when the school was situated at the Jo Scott’s Furniture venue or when the school was situated at the current site on the Ridgeway. If you have any items that we could lend for the display, please put them in a named sealed envelope and drop them off at the school reception anytime between now and the event. We would really appreciate your support and hope to see you there. Please join us for refreshments and time to celebrate education in our village.

World Book Day Toilet Roll Competition - We had a brilliant turn out for our WBD Toilet Roll competition. The winners were announced last week in assembly, from Foundation Phase, the winners were: Leo, Lily and Holly. From KS2 the winners were: Harry H, Rosie A and Charlie W. Congratulations to all who entered and to our winners. We also held a picture book quiz - for those of you still scratching your heads for the answers, they are pictured above.
St. Deiniol and Marcellea Church Coffee Morning - We were lucky enough to take some Year 6 pupils across to our local church on Tuesday to enjoy some biscuits, tea and chat. The pupils engaged well with members of the local community, enjoyed chatting to them and we also picked up a few winners in the raffle!
Easyfundraising - When making purchases online please can you go through the 'easyfundraising' app as a small percentage of the transaction will be sent to the Friends of Deiniol. It doesn't cost you anything at all and most online retailers take part: Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, Tui etc. Just download the app, choose Friends of Deiniol School Yard and then use the app to choose an online store to buy from. It's really simple to use and easy money for the school!
Recycled Clothes - Please keep bagging up and sending in any unwanted clothes to the school. It's really easy money for the Friends of Deiniol which is then sent back into school to help our children.

Dog Blog - Please see our latest blog from Albert. https://ysgol-deiniol-cp.secure-primarysite.net/dog-blog/
