Event #3 & Event #4

Event #3 took place at Owens Community College's Center for Emergency Preparedness in Walbridge, Ohio during Memorial Day weekend. Bill Rankin was able to take some amazing shots during the event. For event #4 we were back at the Toledo Express Airport for another beautiful sunny day. Frozen Moments Photography, Keith Lau, took some incredible photos as well to showcase all of the cool cars we had at the event!

In Memoriam

We would like to take a moment and remember Chris Bolt and Chris Pruett. Chris Bolt was a passionate auto racing enthusiast, and devoted member of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). His enthusiasm for auto racing led him to become an active member of the Detroit and Northwest Ohio Region SCCA where he competed in auto racing. Chris showcased not only his skill behind the wheel, but also enjoyed his camaraderie with fellow drivers and other auto enthusiasts. Chris was a staple at most NWOR Autocross events for the last 15+ years. Stealing a quote from Jonathan Rogers , "we should all be inspired to have a Chris Bolt attitude at the next, or all future autocross events."

Our autocross community is very small and we have many people in the Midwest that attend multiple regional events and Chris Pruett was one of those people. Chris belonged to the Sports Car Club of America for over 30 years. Chris was a long time SVR member and notable leader within the region, serving as board member and R.E. He was also a member of the national modified advisory committee. Secretly known as the stig, Chris not only had a passion for driving his Swift DB1, but also keeping it in better condition than the day it left the factory floor. He had achieved success regionally, divisionally, and trophied twice at nationals." Both Chris Bolt and Chris Pruett will truly be missed.

Chris and Chris Fun Event

Instead of hosting a Team Challenge Event on July 13th it was decided to have a fun event in memory of Chris Bolt and Chris Pruett. We were able to raise $503 in memorial contributions which will be split evenly between Bolt's and Pruett's dedicated charities. Jenny O'Maley also made and sold the incredible cookies below to help support the Chris and Chris charities.

Event #5 & #6

We are very fortunate to have so many events at the Toledo Express Airport this year! It is a really nice and grippy surface which makes it a perfect testing ground for SCCA National Events.

Clutch Chatter 2.0 Random Fact!

Gone in 60 Seconds is best known for what happens after Pace is caught stealing a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1. This pursuit is considered the longest car chase in movie history. The 40-minute-long epic that concludes the 1974 B-movie legend where star, writer, and director, H.B. Halicki, did all the driving himself, including a spectacular jump off a makeshift ramp of crashed cars. More than 90 cars were destroyed in the process.
