Sussexsport app and QR code set-up guide
From Monday 12 January, you’ll need to scan a QR code on the Sussexsport app when entering the Sports Centre and the gym rooms. If you don't have a smartphone, you can leave your ID at reception in exchange for a temporary pass. Please follow the steps below to install the Sussexsport app and set up the QR code function. If you already have the Sussexsport app, you'll still need to set up your QR code - go straight to Step Four. If you have any difficulties setting up the app and QR code, please visit the reception desk at the Sports Centre for help.
Step One - download the app
- Search for 'Sussexsport' in your chosen app marketplace, and download the app.
- Open the app and set your notification preference.
- On the 'Search Club' screen, press 'WELCOME TO Falmer, Brighton (Sportcentre Rd).
- Tap the 'ONLINE BOOKINGS' icon.
- Tap the 'BOOK A CLASS' icon. The app will now ask you to set up your account.
Step Two - set up your account
- Tap the person icon on the right hand side of the screen.
- Login using the first part of your Sussex email address (e.g. ab123) and normal IT password. If you don't have a Sussex email address, enter the email address you used to register with Sussexsport.
- If you get a message saying your login hasn't worked, please proceed to Step Three.
- If you now see the booking homepage (your name will be in a box, like in the second image below) please proceed to Step Four.
Step Three - set up your account (part two)
- When you see the message 'Please tell us who you are', press 'External User Email' (even if you are a Sussex student or staff member)
- Enter your full Sussex email address (e.g. ab123@sussex.ac.uk) and press 'Send reset email'.
- Go to your Sussex email and open the email that has been sent to you. Press 'click here'.
- Enter the following temporary password: Sussex1!
- Enter the same password in the password confirm box. Don't worry - you won't need to remember this.
- Go back to the app and log in again using the first part of your Sussex email address (e.g. ab123) and your normal IT password. Tap 'remember me' before you start typing.
- Your account should now be set up. From now on you'll always be able to log in using your normal IT details.
- Continue to Step 4 - we're nearly there!
Step Four - set up your QR code
- If you're not already on the booking homepage, access it by tapping 'ONLINE BOOKINGS' and then 'BOOK A CLASS' on the app.
- Tap the arrow to the right of your name in the drop down box.
- Tap on your membership level.
- Tap the person icon to the right of the arrow.
- Tap 'Buy and manage my memberships'
- Tap 'Manage login order'
- Press and hold to drag your membership level above the level that says Staff or Student.
- Tap 'Show virtual membership card'.
- Tap OK.
- Tap 'My QR' in the bottom left of the screen.
- That's it - now whenever you come to the gym you can tap 'Your QR Code' on the app home screen to open the gates.
Thank you for installing the app and QR code. If you encountered any issues please visit the reception desk at the Sports Centre where staff will be ready to help you.
