3-WAY CONFERENCES 3-Way Conferences are happening on Monday 15th July with interview slots being provided between 10:30am until 6:30pm. This is a student free day with the expectation that your child attends the interview with you (Theircare will be offering their services from 6:30am – 6:15pm on this day). The students have already been looking at their goals and preparing what they will share with you. You will be able to book a 3-Way Conference from Tuesday 11 June, remaining open until the last week of term. There are some individual grade variations to this due to staff absence early in Term 3 – this will be communicated to the families in these classes directly.
REPORTS Things are ramping for our staff at the moment with everyone in the middle of finalising assessment and writing student reports. I write this every report cycle and will do so again, staff are not given report writing time in addition to their normal work hours. Reports are written after school, in the evenings and on weekends. My social media feed has been full of teachers writing reports in many different places – at basketball stadiums on Sunday mornings, in the foyer of swim centres, at weekend football matches, at dance rehearsals, in car parks when they have arrived for their own events (or kids) too early, and in coffee shops. I would like to thank our staff for the time and effort they put into writing reports and giving up their time with their families and other personal commitments.
DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY At the time of writing, we had a number of students running at the Division Cross Country. Congratulations to all runners for (ahem) putting their best foot forward!
2025 ENROLMENTS We are asking all families with sibling enrolments for 2025 to submit their enrolment forms as soon as possible. No enrolments were taken until the start of Term 2, and then only ‘in-zone’ enrolments are confirmed. Those out of zone can submit an application by the end of July and can only be confirmed thereafter if the school has capacity. Our site limit is 675, and we have capacity for 80-90 Foundation students in 2025. Please get your enrolment forms in as soon as possible, to give us some certainty on any potential out of zone enrolments for next year.
It looks like our run of beautiful weather has come to an end. Winter clothes on for the next 3 months!
Have a great weekend!

Reconciliation Week This week is Reconciliation Week (27 May-3 June) across Australia.
National Reconciliation Week is when Australia acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People as the original custodians of our land.
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The theme this year is NOW MORE THAN EVER.
Across the week students took part in a range of activities in order to learn more about Reconciliation and our traditional custodians of the land.
Parents are invited to attend a Free webinar: Unlocking the mysteries of the teenage brain being offered by Relationships Australia. The presentation is suitable for parents/carers of children 10+ years.
Do you ever feel like your teen/pre-teen is from a completely different species?
Are you:
- dealing with a teen who offers you nothing but grunts, shrugs, rolled eyes or silence?
- feeling you’re constantly in a battle with your teen?
- concerned that your teen is drawing away from you and the family?
- struggling with how to support your teen with their worries, stress and anxiety?
- wondering what’s ahead for your pre-teen as they prepare for high school in the coming years?
Have a great week,
Gill
CAMPS, SPORTS AND EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF) The Government assisted Fund provides payments for eligible students to attend camps, sports, incursions and excursions ($150 per child). Applications for the Governments ‘CSEF Fund’ can be accessed by filling in the application form and returning it to the office with a copy of your current Health Care Card. Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply) i.e. a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card or Veteran Affairs Gold Card.
If you applied for the CSEF at your child's school in 2023, you do not need to complete an application form in 2024 unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
You only need to complete an application form if any of the following changes have occurred:
- new student enrolments; your child has started or changed schools in 2024 or you did not apply in 2023.
- changed family circumstances; such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing at the school in 2024.
- Funds are paid to the school and will be automatically allocated to the Extra-Curricular Items and Activities unless otherwise stated by the parent at the start of the year.
Kind regards,
Lucy Addati

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019). Since 2018, the NCCD has been used by the Australian Government to inform aspects of funding for schools, known as the ‘student with disability loading’.
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
In our context at Viewbank Primary School, students will be included in the NCCD process if they have (amongst other things) evidence of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) in 2023 or 2024, personalised adjustments in the classroom, participation in Learning Support classes, had an educational assessment (cognitive, hearing, speech etc) that outlines particular strategies that need to be implemented, the school receives funding for a students under the Program for Students with Disabilities or Disability Inclusion, etc.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/using-site/privacy ).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
