BACKGROUND & PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center is the larger of the two public pools found in Apple Valley. The leisure pool, which includes the body slides and diving well, opened in 1999. The lazy river and tube slides were added with money from the 2007 Parks Bond Referendum, and they opened in 2009. The facility is now 25 years old and in need of significant investments to ensure it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
This current project at the Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center includes replacing the pool’s mechanical equipment and filtration system to conserve water; refurbishing slides and other water features; improving the front entrance to streamline the entry process; renaming and retheming the facility; adding more shade structures in and around the pool; enhancing concessions space; and updating the bathhouse—which includes the locker rooms, changing areas, bathrooms, and showers—to make the facility more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for all our patrons.
The total budget for this project is $8.1 million dollars.
