BROUGHAL MUSIC BLAST #7 2025-2026

Welcome to the the 2025-2026 Broughal Music Blast! Auditions for Newsies, Jr. were so much fun! We can't wait to share the cast list next week and seize the day! Next week, the Rocket Marching Band is excited to cheer the Rocket football team at the Broughal-Northeast football game, followed by 2 parades next weekend. We hope you'll join us for one of these fun-filled performances. GO ROCKETS! Please note that the Broughal Music Blast will be sent out every weekend, detailing the rehearsal schedule, upcoming events, and important announcements.

Broughal-Northeast Game - Wednesday, 10/15

On Wednesday, 10/15, the Broughal Rocket Marching Band will be supporting the Broughal football team during the Broughal-Northeast football game, at the BASD Stadium (1115 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018)! Admission is FREE to the public. Please review the following schedule for more details:

SCHEDULE
  • 7:00 AM: Bring FULL UNIFORM to the Band Room.
  • 3:05 PM: Report to the Band Room immediately after school. Eat a snack, hydrate, use the restroom.
  • 3:30 PM: Change into FULL UNIFORM.
  • 4:00 PM: Rehearsal
  • 4:30 PM: Load Truck & Buses
  • 4:45 PM: Depart for BASD Stadium
  • 5:00 PM: Arrive at BASD Stadium. Unload Truck and Buses.
  • 5:30 PM: Game starts. Go Rockets!
  • 7:00 PM (approx): Game ends. Rockets win! Load buses and truck.
  • 7:15 PM (approx): Arrive at Broughal. Unload buses and truck. Students are dismissed to parents/guardians.

Reminder! Wear comfortable clothing underneath your uniform. Make sure no clothing is sticking out from underneath your uniform. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz or Mr. Kendall. Additionally, please make sure you are following the BASD Stadium Rules & Guidelines including the bag and personal items policies:

BAGS PERMITTED INSIDE THE STADIUM . . .
  • Clear, plastic or vinyl bags no larger than 12x6 inches
  • A small clutch/wristlet
  • One-gallon resealable storage bag

No backpacks, purses, or non-clear bags are permitted. Diaper bags, strollers, walkers, and other medically necessary items will be permitted following a search. Extra clothing, blankets, cameras, and cell phones will be permitted if carried loosely or in an approved clear bag. Please review the BASD Stadium Rules & Guidelines for more details.

Nazareth Halloween Parade - Saturday, 10/18

Our first parade of the school year features our Band, Majorettes, and Honor Guard marching in the Nazareth Halloween Parade on Saturday, 10/18! The parade will start and end at Nazareth Area High School (501 E Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064). This will be a busy day, including Picture Day for Marching Band. Students will need to report to Broughal in Full Uniform, which includes:

UNIFORM ITEMS
  • Band & Honor Guard: Jacket, Pants, Beret, Gloves, Long Black Socks, Black Laced Dress Shoes
  • Majorettes: Jacket, Shorts, Beret, No-Show Socks, Boots

All students should wear comfortable clothing underneath their uniforms, based on the weather. Please review the following schedule for more details about this event. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz or Mr. Kendall.

SCHEDULE
  • 9:30 AM: Report to Broughal in Full Uniform with your instrument/equipment for Picture Day.
  • 11:15 AM: Load the truck and buses. Eat lunch on the bus.
  • 11:30 AM: Depart for Nazareth Area High School.
  • 12:00 PM: Arrive at Nazareth Area High School. Unload truck and buses.
  • 12:15 PM: Warm Up & Rehearsal.
  • 1:00 PM: Nazareth Halloween Parade begins.
  • 3:00 PM (approx): Parade ends! Load truck and buses.
  • 3:15 PM (approx): Depart for Broughal.
  • 3:45 PM (approx): Arrive at Broughal. Unload truck and buses. Parents/guardians must pick up students at Broughal.

Hellertown Halloween Parade - Sunday, 10/19

Our second parade of the school year will be the Hellertown Halloween Parade on Sunday, 10/19! Students will start and end at the Saucon Valley Middle School parking lot (2095 Polk Valley Road, Hellertown, PA 18055). Please review the following schedule for more details:

SCHEDULE
  • 12:15 PM: Report to Broughal in Full Uniform with your instrument, equipment, music.
  • 12:30 PM: Load the truck and buses.
  • 12:45 PM: Depart for Saucon Valley Middle School.
  • 1:00 PM: Arrive at Saucon Valley Middle School. Unload truck & buses.
  • 1:15 PM: Rehearsal
  • 1:45 PM: Line up in Parade Block.
  • 2:00 PM: Parade begins!
  • 4:00 PM (approx): Parade ends. Load truck and buses.
  • 4:15 PM (approx): Depart for Broughal.
  • 4:30 PM (approx): Arrive at Broughal. Unload truck & buses. Parents/guardians must pick up students at Broughal. Don’t forget to hang up your uniform outside of the garment bag.

Picture Day for Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard

On Saturday, 10/18, before the Nazareth Halloween Parade, students in Band, Majorettes, and Honor Guard will take individual and group pictures in Full Uniform. Christmas City Studio will be photographing this event. Pictures are available online using the following information. Prepay Ordering closes at midnight on Picture Day. Orders will be shipped directly home. Students who do not prepay will receive Proof Copies with purchase instructions. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stoltz or Mr. Kendall.

Mandatory Music Meeting - Presentation

Our first music meeting for the 2025-2026 school year was on Thursday, September 4th, at 7:30 PM, in Broughal's Auditorium! During this meeting, we discussed important information for Broughal Music this year, including fundraisers, performances, trips, and rules & expectations. For more specific details, please view the presentation, complete any required tasks, and contact the directors with any questions.

Instrumental Music Lessons

Lessons began on Tuesday, September 2. All instrumental music students should have received their first lesson assignments during the first week of school, in homeroom. Please note that all lessons take place during the students' Related Arts periods. Early-Morning Rehearsals

Early-morning rehearsals began on Wednesday, September 3. Students should report to the main entrance on Morton Street as early as 6:55 AM but no later than 7:05 AM, on their assigned rehearsal day, based on the following rehearsal schedule:

  • MONDAYS: Jazz Band
  • TUESDAYS: NO EARLY-MORNING
  • WEDNESDAYS: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard
  • THURSDAYS: NO EARLY-MORNING
  • FRIDAYS: Band, Majorettes, Honor Guard

Handbook Forms Due - Wednesday, 10/1

Like past years, we will be using Google Forms to collect your responses for your Handbook Forms. CLICK HERE to access and complete your forms. If you need paper copies of the Handbook Forms, please contact one of the Directors. All electronic and paper Handbook Forms are due by Wednesday, 10/1. Don't forget to fill out the paper BASD Medical Form (English | Español) in addition to the electronic forms!

Volunteers Needed

One of the most helpful ways to assist Broughal Music is by volunteering! Depending on the event, you'll be assisting and supporting students and directors so that EVERYONE can have a successful, stress-free performance/event! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org) as soon as possible and let him know which of the following events you would like to volunteer for:

  • Sat, 10/18: Picture Day (Band, Maj, HG) & Nazareth Halloween Parade
  • Sun, 10/19: Hellertown Halloween Parade
  • Sun, 10/26: Bethlehem Halloween Parade

Please note that adult volunteers must have active clearances on file with the Broughal Music Department BEFORE volunteering. Additionally, community service students are limited to students currently attending Liberty High School or Freedom High School. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors.

Matey's Pizza Fundraiser

The Matey's Pizza fundraiser started on Wednesday, 10/1! Pizzas cost $7.50 each, except for Gluten Free pizza ($9.50 each). Students earn $2.00 per pizza sold. Pizza options include:

  • Original Gourmet
  • Triple Cheese
  • Thick Crust Triple Cheese
  • Smoked Provolone & Mozzarella Cheese
  • Gluten Free Triple Cheese

All order forms and money are due by Thursday, 10/23. Pizza delivery will take place on Thursday, 11/6, at 3 PM in the Band Room. For more details, please check out the following order form. If you have any questions, please contact one of the Directors.

Spring Trip Cost - CONFIRMED

Now that we have received final prices from Dorney Park and Music in the Parks, we can confirm the prices for our Spring Trip on Friday, May 15, 2026. Please review the following figures for more details. These prices include the cost of the charter bus, trip t-shirt, food and drink, park admission, and the music competition fee. Your trip cost will be reduced if you have a Dorney Pass. All trip payments are due on Thursday, April 9, 2026. If you have any questions, please contact one of the directors.

Gertrude Hawk Candy Fundraiser

Our first fundraiser has ended! Check out the following details for more information on our first and one of our most popular fundraisers:

  • Boxes of candy are available for pick-up in the Band Room. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when signing out boxes of candy.
  • There are 48 bars in each candy box. Each candy bar costs $2.50 (2 for $5.00). Students should return $120 to the BMPO. All money and orders were due on Thursday, 9/25.
  • For each box sold, students earn $50 towards their Broughal Music account.

$50 Fair Share Due Thursday, 9/25

The $50 Fair Share was due on Thursday, 9/25. We use this money to purchase music, supplies, clothing, food, and beverages. We also use these funds to pay for transportation, field trips, and various items and events throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please contact the directors as soon as possible.

Want to know how much money is in your child's account and how much money you owe for Fair Share and the Spring Trip? Check out the Broughal Music website or the following button/link. The document is organized by Student ID number, so make sure you have the ID number ready. If you cannot find your child's ID number, please contact Mr. Stoltz (astoltz@basdschools.org).

Do you know when your next lesson is? Have you been practicing your instrument? Check the Lesson Schedule regularly so that you are prepared for your next lesson. Remember, you need to attend 17 lessons per instrument in order to attend the Spring Trip!
