WORKING BEE Sunday 25th promises to be a productive day as we focus our Term 3 working bee on areas around the Grade 3 and 4 classroom at Jilinga, laying the year 6 Legacy pavers between the pathways at the northern end of the Administration building and finishing off the composting garden behind the art room. There is always much to do so we will get started at 9.00am. Please access the school from the top of Nevin Parade. A sausage sizzle morning tea/lunch will be provided and I hope to see you there.
MATHSLAND The second of our 2025 transition events took place on Tuesday with Maths Land being held from 9.30am until 10.30am. As always, this is a good opportunity for our new students to become familiar with our school and their parents to get to know other parents in a fairly relaxed setting. The final session for this term is PMP Land on Tuesday, September 3.
BOOK WEEK We had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week, beginning with our Book Week Parade on Monday morning. It was great to see so many students and staff dressed as their favourite characters and joining in the spirit of the morning. A huge thank you to the creative families who assisted with costumes. With the support of Mrs Triantafilis, Bella, Imogen, Henry, and Arjun confidently hosted the parade and kept things flowing.
All students who dressed up for the parade went into a raffle, with one student from each class being selected to win a book prize, kindly donated by our generous Parents and Friends Group. Tuesday saw all students participating in an informative visit from author, George Ivanoff. I’m sure many budding authors picked up some worthwhile writing tips and many more students were keen to begin reading George’s books. The Parents and Friends Great Book Swap was another highlight. A huge number of books were donated by families allowing for students to purchase ‘new’ books to read and enjoy. And it goes without saying that we can’t provide such activities without the support of our kind volunteers.
I hope many pleasant hours are spent enjoying these new titles.
LOST PROPERTY Just a reminder to please name your child’s clothing and remind them to put their jumpers in their bag or tie them around their waist if they take them off. We have a large amount of lost property that seems to be constantly growing. Please come and see if you can locate your child’s jumpers. We will endeavour to return named clothing.
Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you at the working bee this Sunday.

SWOOPING SEASON It is that time of year again, unfortunately. We have 2 adult plovers and 3 plover chicks that have taken up residence in the school grounds. Generally, they have remained in the dirt compound, but they sometimes have ventured out. They are very territorial. There are also some magpies and noisy miners that are located near the corner of Lascelles Avenue and Nevin Parade that are protecting chicks. Fortunately, most swoops are occurring before and after school. Please be mindful when moving through these areas. Here are a couple of online maps that show where members of the public have recorded swoops in Victoria.
HATS Another reminder that hats are compulsory for all students to wear from Monday 02 September, for the remainder of the year. Please make sure all hats are clearly named. Our SunSmart Policy can be accessed here http://www.viewbankps.vic.edu.au/s/SunSmart-Policy-9rp9.pdf.
Have a great weekend,
Patrick
