Pornhub has been proven to host illegal and non-consensual content, including sex trafficking, child abuse, and rape. Despite legal action and investigations exposing these crimes, the site still remains accessible in Australia, without age verification, allowing anyone, including children, to view this harmful material.

By allowing Pornhub to be accessible, we are denying justice to victims whose abuse is exploited for profit, and we are perpetuating the cycle of misogyny, violence against women, and rape culture. Several states in America have already taken action against Pornhub, why is Australia still behind?

Help us make a change by signing and sharing this petition to introduce legislature in the Australian Parliament that bans Pornhub on all devices. Join us to ensure that we protect communities, hold perpetrators accountable, take a stand against sexual violence, and serve justice to victims.

Time to Take Action, Australia

Shut Down Pornhub in Australia: Here’s Why

By allowing this platform to operate, we perpetuate the objectification and dehumanisation of women and reinforce the ongoing cycle of misogyny through generations. Studies show that most Australian children are exposed to pornography before the age of 15, and it is reasonable to assume that majority of this exposure originates from Pornhub [the world’s most popular pornography site] that hosts extremely disturbing content that nobody, let alone children, should allowed access to. Additionally, studies show that 72% of young people say pornography they have viewed depicts aggression and violence against women.

Protect our Youth

This content's availability to children, particularly boys, is shaping their perception of sex, relationships, and gender roles in deeply harmful ways. Research shows that exposure to violent pornography significantly increases the likelihood of young boys committing acts of dating violence. It is therefore impossible to imagine the kind of psychological and social damage children obtain from viewing unconsentual pornography. By normalising and eroticising the degradation of women, Pornhub fuels rape culture, desensitising users to sexual violence, and perpetuates the cycle of abuse.

"I first came into pornography earlier than the age of 10. Like many of my peers, it was by accident. But like a car crash, I struggled to look away." - young person, Australia

Protect the Victims

For survivors of sexual abuse, the existence of their assault on Pornhub is an unbelievable nightmare. Imagine the trauma of knowing that your worst moment is being consumed as entertainment and monetised by a corporation that refuses to protect you. No one should have to live in fear of their abuse being available for anybody to view. It is horrifying that this content is still available for those who seek it, and that the Australian Government have taken no action to ban the site hosting it.

FAQ: Why shut down Pornhub? This content can still be found elsewhere.

While this is true, Pornhub is the most visited porn site in Australia, and is proven to host an alarming amount of illegal content [videos of rape, sex trafficking, child abuse]. Shutting down Pornhub would significantly reduce access to such harmful material, especially for children who may inadvertently stumble across it.

Most importantly, taking down Pornhub would help bring justice to those whose abuse has been monetised and used as entertainment on the site. These victims deserve the opportunity to live without fear of having their trauma circulated online, and for profit.

By banning such a widely accessible platform in Australia, we can take a massive step forward, which is bound to push our society in the right direction. Banning Pornhub will act as a domino effect - without taking this first step, it will be extremely hard to eliminate such content from the internet in the future. Let's act before it's too late.

Australia is behind

Australia is a progressive and safe country, where the passion to protect our youth can be seen clearly in the recent Online Safety Amendment Act. Although, I believe to further ensure the safety of children online, it is necessary to address the root causes of harm, including online pornography. Banning Pornhub in Australia is a crucial step towards preventing the perpetuation of misogyny, sexual violence, and abuse, and to ensure justice for all survivors where they can live without fear. By signing and sharing this petition, we can demand the Australian Parliament act to ban this website and create a safer, more respectful society for everyone. We must act now.
