The effects of War By ethan ning

A long time ago, I used to live in a beautiful place. The blue skies were endless, and you could freely roam about the streets. There was a lively feeling in the air at night, and there was enough food and water for everyone.

Despite this, there were warning signs. One day, there was a long line of people headed out of the city. Stores had their shelves completely wiped. Soon I would understand why everyone was leaving. I will never forget that day. The day the sirens started; the day the end of my world began.

We were all told to take cover, but where would we go? Then black smoke and a loud boom filled the air. Was this the end for me? More booms. The house started to shake. I ran and kneeled down in the tub. A window shattered. Crash! Boom! My world has become endless white. Bzzt! The lights went out.

I heard the sound of splintering wood. The cracking and roaring stopped. I got out of the tub, and froze. As my vision cleared, I could see the sun’s rays filter into my bathroom, as light flowed in through a gaping hole in the ceiling.

The intact bomb landed on the floor of the bathroom. I flung open the door and ran, anything to get further away from this weapon.

The bomb exploded, taking away everything I possessed. Everything, including my shelter, food, water; items I needed for survival; vaporized in an instant. I came to the realization that War was a very unpredictable thing. Where would the next bomb land? Would the enemy invade us? Why was war something we had to deal with? These questions were ones that we faced. War is feared because of the uncertainty. You could be just fine for a moment, and then immediately find yourself in grave danger. My home became a desolate wasteland, and we, the survivors, were forced out; forced into unknown territories. There is no escaping from the fallout of war.
