As we near the end of the first half term, our three-year-olds are settling in beautifully. Each day brings new opportunities to take turns, share, and develop those all-important first friendships.
Alongside early maths, mark-making, and storytelling, learning to play and work together is still central. By supporting their personal, social, and emotional development, we’re building the confidence and connections that help all learning flourish.
Your support at home makes a real difference. At this age, children thrive with gentle encouragement to grow in independence — whether it’s getting their own coat, helping to pack their school bag, or taking on small responsibilities. Thank you for joining us at our Read, Play, Connect session this week; when children see you valuing their learning, they value it too.
We’ve read lots of stories this week to spark the children’s learning. The Tiger Who Came to Tea led to great conversations about what might happen if an animal visited school or home and ate all the food!
The children drew pictures and made marks to show what animal they imagined visiting.
"A giraffe that eats my dog!"
"A turtle that eats everything, even our house."
We explored some maths using pretend food, taking away the items the tiger had eaten and counting how many were left.
Here are some snapshots from our early phonics work, where we used instruments and took a listening walk around school to explore sounds in our environment. We’re excited to keep building these skills together as the term continues.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
