Nukumea Newsletter Term 3 Week 1 2024

We have been welcomed back to Term 3 with rainbows every day as we navigate the constant showers passing over us. Thankfully they have seemed to pause for break times so we have all still managed to get outside and enjoy the breaks as we settle back into our learning routines.

Last term was highly successful with lots of learning progress and plenty of opportunities for our students and community to shine in different ways over the term. Have a look through the highlights video of Term 2 below and congratulations to Oliver, Olivia and Lachie for their Values Certificates they were awarded at the end of term.

We have an exciting term coming up so here is a list of important dates to keep in mind:

  • Monday 29th July 9.00am: Mihi Whakatau for new families
  • Wednesday 31st July & Thursday 1st August 3.30-5.30pm: Three Way Conferences
  • Friday 9th August 9.15-3pm: Stardome Trip
  • Thursday 15th August 9.30-11.30: Vision and Hearing Specialist onsite
  • Monday 26th - Friday 30th August: Auckland Regional Dental Service onsite
  • Saturday 31st August: Jump Jam competition
  • Thursday 5th September: Nukumea Cross Country day

As part of our fortnightly newsletters, we are pleased to share some Nukumea-made videos of important information and key messages about different aspects of life and learning at Nukumea. These videos will include overviews of information sessions we have hosted at school in the past, some of which you may not have had an opportunity to attend in person.

The first video we would like to share is about Learning at Nukumea - all of the essential information about the learning models and approaches we use, with a particular focus on Literacy and Maths. We also share information about how to read and understand your child's progress, achievement, and reporting. Click here to watch this video.

We all had a great time at our Matariki disco last term and I would like to thank the Generation Homes team from Woodlands Rise next to our school for their donation that helped pay for the disco lights and hot chocolates. We are looking forward to doing some joint promotions together over the end of this year to encourage more families to move into the area and join our awesome community. If you have any friends looking for a house, you may want to check out the promotion that they have running at the moment:

A reminder that you are able to book a learning conversation for you and your child with their whānau teacher through Hero. These will be held next week on Wednesday 31st July and Thursday 1st August from 3:30 - 5:30pm. Your child's whānau teacher is who wrote their report but also feel free to email both teachers in your child's class to double check if you are unsure (all Inanga students attending conferences will book with Caroline). guidelines for these conferences were shared with you through Hero earlier this week.

We look forward to seeing you all here next week for the Learning Conferences.
