Dear Bluejay Family,

Reminders… we all need them from time to time! As we continue to work together to keep our students safe, please take note of these important car line reminders:

  • Only one lane of traffic is allowed on Railroad Avenue (behind the church). Do not block residents' driveways or attempt to "cut the line" by skipping the horseshoe in heavy traffic.
  • The right lane of Patrick Williamson (between the cemetery and the school) is the express lane for morning care drop-off only until the stop sign is placed up or a staff member directs you forward. Please help us by being courteous to those who need to utilize morning care.
  • Louisiana law strictly prohibits cell phone use in a school zone, including texting, calling, or using social media. The penalty for a first offense is a fine of up to $500, while repeat offenses can result in fines of up to $1,000 and a 60-day license suspension. This law applies to everyone driving through our car line—including parents and teenage drivers picking up younger siblings. Please make sure your family follows this important safety law.

Lastly, and most importantly, we ask you to join us in prayer for the STM community, who suffered the heartbreaking loss of one of their seniors in a tragic accident this weekend. We pray for the soul of the student who passed, for her family as they navigate unimaginable grief, and for her friends, teachers, and classmates whose hearts are heavy with sorrow. May God’s peace and strength surround them in this difficult time.

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God." - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Stock the Lounge initiative! Our faculty and staff are so very grateful for all the drinks and snacks.

Running Club

Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade are invited to join the Running Club, where they can exercise, build endurance, and have fun with friends. It meets on the playground after school on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00, starting the week of March 10 and ending the week of April 11 (weather permitting). Activities include warm-ups, stretching, and running/walking. Laps are recorded, and for every 30 laps (3 miles), students earn a small plastic shoe to hang on their book sacks.

Annual Talent Show

It's time to start preparing for the Annual Talent Showcase! Students in grades 4-8 can sign up outside the STREAM lab to showcase their talents—whether it's singing, dancing, cheering, playing an instrument, or something unique. The performance will take place on Thursday, February 27 at 1:00 PM, with the entire school and parents of performers invited (parents, please check in at the front office). Practices will be held on Monday, February 24 (3:00-4:30) for 4th graders and Wednesday, February 26 (3:00-4:30) for 5th-8th graders. The sign-up deadline is Friday, February 21. Additionally, we will showcase student artwork from grades 4-8. Please send photos of up to five pieces to Mrs. Claire (ccarluen@scsbluejays.org) by February 21, with "Talent Show Art" in the subject line. This is a fun, non-judged event, so just enjoy the opportunity to show off your talents! Contact Mrs. Claire with any questions.

St. Cecilia Fund

The St. Cecilia Fund is an annual fund and is open through the current fiscal year. If you have not had the opportunity to give for the 2024-2025 school year, it's not too late! Please consider an end of year gift to support our school.

REMINDER: Registration and Perpetual Maintenance fees are due in full no later than Friday, January 31, 2025. Please be sure to sign into your FACTS account and initiate payment if you are not enrolled in autopay for incidental billing to avoid late charges being added.

As a reminder, parish non-tithing fees will be billed in February. This $250 fee is billed to all families that have not met the minimum tithing amount ($250) to Sacred Heart or St. Joseph in Broussard for the calendar year 2024. Please make sure your donations are trackable (i.e. check, parish envelope, EFT, online). We can not track cash donations and if you are not a registered parishioner we literally do not have an account to apply your donations to which will likely lead to the $250 invoice being generated for your family. If you receive an invoice for the non-tithing fee in error, please contact Marsha Granger or Ann Dugas (emails below). You may be asked to provide proof of your donations if you are not a registered parishioner and/or giving in a way that we could not verify. If you are unsure of your 2024 tithing amount, please call Sacred Heart Church at 337.837.1864 or email mgranger@scsbluejays.org or adugas@scsbluejays.org to verify your giving history.

For a 25-26 schedule of tuition and fees, please visit scsbluejays.org and click the Admissions tab.

Dear Bluejay Family,

Our Bluejays enjoyed a week without competition as we await the start of baseball and softball season. Both are hitting the diamond practicing very hard for the beginning of their seasons. They will do so with new uniforms as well! With the start of softball and baseball, it cannot go unnoticed the sacrifices of our younger Bluejays. The 6th grade girls that are playing 5/6th grade softball are also playing with the 7/8th grade team to allow our older girls to have a season. Additionally our 7th grade baseball boys are doing the same. Regardless of what happens this season with those teams, I could not be prouder of the kids and their parents to instill this sense of sacrifice for others. You cannot put a score on this. Thank you for your dedication not only to the sport, but to your fellow Bluejays.

As a reminder as we play games next week, please refer to the Athletic Handbook. Admission is $6 for adults, and $1 for children. SCS students, staff and teachers as well as active duty military, veterans, and first responders are admitted free for home games in our gym. The schedules are available on our athletics page, where you can find all the information you need for Bluejay sports. Our 7/8th Grade Football Team’s championship gear is available to purchase.

Have a blessed day,

Scott Boudreaux
