A Message from the Headteacher

A week with plenty to report! We have managed to enjoy the weather and completed several exciting activities. Before mentioning these I again have a reminder. Parking issues are again evident. I again urge people to park away from yellow lines and please follow the highway code. I am fielding concerns from local residents and have again agreed to ask people for understanding. With so many families needing to drive to school, it will always be a challenge. Please remember the Pinfold Car Park is available just a short walk away.

This week we held our Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) consultation. Thank you so much to Miss Keen for her hard work in this most crucial and sensitive area. The collaboration between school and our families has been brilliant. All documentation has been emailed to families and as always, any questions please ask.

We have competed our Year 1 Phonics check this week. Thank you to Miss Sabin and all of the staff who work with the readers! A huge well done to the children. The progress has been superb and I am thrilled with the development around their reading knowledge! Thank you to our families for the essential support you provide at home in allowing the children to practise these essential skills too!

Year 4 have completed the multiplication check. Thank you to Mr. Markham and all staff for their work in preparing the mathematicians. Again, an enormous well done to the children, we are delighted with their efforts. This knowledge will help in so many areas of their future!

Year 3 had a wonderful trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster. A fabulous day was had by all and I loved seeing and hearing the excitement from the tourists! Enjoy some moments below. There are also photos in the 'This week's news' section.

Next Friday will be the first of our non-uniform days in the lead up to our Summer Fayre. For those of you who haven’t experienced this event this is how it works. Instead of requesting a cash contribution to wear non-uniform, each week we ask for different types of donations which may be used as prizes for the fair.

  • Week 1 20th June – Sweets
  • Week 2 27th June – Smellies
  • Week 3 4th June – Bottles
  • Week 4 11th June – Buns and Cakes

We have been asked to share the following opportunity with you from Barnsley Civic that may be of interest to some of you. Tabletop Barnsley is a brand-new event celebrating the hobby of tabletop gaming. The event is on Saturday 14th June between 10am – 4pm, and entry is FREE. Please see the link below.

Tickets for our upcoming Summer Disco will be on sale from Monday. Tickets cost £3 which includes a bag of crisps and a pop. Hot dogs cost £1, buns 50p and extra drinks or crisps are 50p. Tickets are on sale until 3.15pm on Monday 23rd June. Please send the £3 in an envelope, with their name on the front, and hand it to their class teacher. The disco is open for children in Reception to Year 6.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and manage to get some valuable family time together.
