July 25th Newsletter

Tuesday, 7/29 (1:00p-7:00p), Wednesday, 7/30 (10:00a-5:00p)

These two days are the best opportunity to get your student fully set up for a successful school year. In addition to receiving class schedules and decorating lockers (always a student favorite!), families can:

  • Connect with our incredible PTO, and prepay for Ice Cream Fridays
  • Learn how to support students across the district with the Zionsville Education Foundation
  • Explore our athletics and clubs tables
  • Purchase a yearbook—remember, only a limited quantity will be available at the end of the year
  • Sign up for Chromebook insurance (because we all know teens and tech...)
  • Get info and assistance at the Cafe/Food Services table
  • Visit the Clinic for Care Plan questions and medication drop-off
  • Drop off food and clothing donations to support ZWest students in need

We strongly encourage families to attend one of these Back-to-School Days to ensure you're fully informed, supported, & ready for the year ahead.

Locker Day (Monday, 8/4) 10:00a-2:00p

  • Locker Day is a brief opportunity for students to practice their locker combinations and walk through their schedules one final time before the first day of school. While schedules can be picked up from the front office on this day if necessary, please note that support will be minimal and the booths, services, and community connections that are offered during the Back-to-School Days will not be available.
  • This date also happens to be our final staff workday before students return, so we kindly ask that visitors not interrupt classrooms or teachers during these crucial last hours of preparation.
  • Food and clothing donations will still be accepted during Locker Day.

Thank you for helping us start the year strong and well-prepared. We can’t wait to welcome your family back to ZWest!

ZWest Athletes should have received a message from Mr. Johnson (ZWest Athletic Director) asking for students to help with the Food/Clothing Drive mentioned above during Back-to-School Days. We still have a few slots available. Please CLICK HERE to sign up - we are looking forward to supporting our ZWest families with these donations!

Student Supply List

  • Supply lists for the 2025-26 school year are now available on the school website. You can also click the button below. Child Find is the process for locating, identifying, and evaluating individuals with suspected disabilities who may need special education services, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. This is the responsibility of ZCS regardless of whether a parent affirmatively requests an evaluation. ZCS provides a Free Appropriate Public Education to any child who qualifies as having a disability, in accordance with federal and state laws. ZCS is responsible for locating all children ages 3 through 22 years of age with a suspected disability who reside within the boundaries of its district. With early identification and intervention, frustration and academic failure can be prevented, which in turn creates a positive learning experience for students. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), which encompasses academics, speech, language, and/or social and emotional learning, is an essential component of the child find process. Utilizing screening assessments, the ZCS team members identify students in need of intervention, implement action plans, and monitor the response to the targeted interventions. In addition, the evaluation referral procedures in ZCS provide the framework to refer students with suspected disabilities for evaluation. If you have questions regarding the Child Find process in ZCS, please contact your child’s school counselor.
