Hotel Sanders AWARDED COVETED MICHELIN KEY

Recognized among the world’s best hotels at the inaugural MICHELIN Key Ceremony in Paris

Copenhagen, October 8, 2025 . . . Hotel Sanders, Copenhagen’s most refined boutique hotel, has been awarded a coveted MICHELIN Key, recognizing it among the world’s most exceptional hotels. The announcement was made today at the MICHELIN Key for Hotels: Global Reveal in Paris, marking the first-ever international ceremony for the distinction.

The MICHELIN Key is to hotels what the MICHELIN Star is to restaurants: a globally respected symbol of excellence. Selected by MICHELIN’s team of anonymous inspectors, hotels are evaluated according to five universal criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for price, and a significant contribution to the neighborhood or setting. Key hotels don’t just fulfill one of these criteria, they are the best of the best in all categories.

We are deeply honored to be recognized by MICHELIN in this inaugural Key selection,” Karim Nielsen, CEO of Kolpin Hotels. “This award reaffirms our vision of creating a home-away-from-home for the world’s most discerning travelers—one where every detail reflects both our Copenhagen roots and our commitment to exceptional hospitality.”

Hotel Sanders, nestled in the heart of Copenhagen’s historic center, embodies these standards through its design-led interiors, intimate scale, and deeply personal service. From its discreet setting to its warm Danish hospitality and thoughtful sense of place, Sanders delivers an outstanding stay that seamlessly blends international sophistication with local authenticity.

Founded in 2017 by former ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin, Sanders embodies a refined balance of elegance, intimacy, and cultural authenticity, offering guests an atmosphere that feels both worldly and warmly personal.

The hotel features 54 individually designed rooms and suites, blending Danish modernism with timeless sophistication. Its inviting spaces include Sanders Rooftop, a sunlit urban oasis, the cozy Courtyard, and the all-day dining restaurant Sanders Kitchen, where seasonal, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine highlights the best local produce and flavors.

A favorite among international travelers, design enthusiasts, and culinary explorers, Sanders is celebrated for its architecture and interiors, bespoke service, and immersive sense of place. Whether enjoying cocktails in the award-winning TATA Bar, dining on thoughtfully sourced ingredients, or discovering Copenhagen’s vibrant cultural and design scene just steps away, guests experience an exceptional stay that reflects the city’s creative spirit.

The MICHELIN Key ceremony was held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs overlooking the Louvre and Tuileries Garden, with the 2025 Key selection celebrating hotels across the globe that meet the highest levels of excellence. By granting Hotel Sanders this distinction, MICHELIN highlights Copenhagen’s continued evolution as a global hub for design, culture, and luxury hospitality.

About Kolpin Hotels

The foundation of Kolpin Hotels is based on a passion for arts, architecture, design and the delivery of an exceptional personal experience for guests – creating a strong lifestyle brand. The intention is to offer a type of quiet luxury, in a place with a strong sense of history and locale. This same sensibility was applied to Sanders Hotel, the first luxury boutique hotel in Copenhagen and the new Sanders Residence.

To date, this has also been successfully achieved at one of Denmark's most stylish beach and bathing hotels – Helenekilde Badehotel, overlooking the Kattegat. In 2025, Kolpin Hotels expands its vision with the launch of Roberta’s Society in Aarhus — a new high-end, yet accessible hybrid hotel concept that blends curated style with social energy, bringing the Kolpin ethos to a new generation of travelers.

Going forward, the intention is to establish authentic and unique boutique hotels in Denmark and international, which respects a high level of aesthetics and service, while at the same time creating a community that unites locals and travelers through art, culture and design.
