Council Meeting
The next City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube at ConnectwithTC.
Youth Committee
The Youth Committee will participate in the Lights on Temple City Parade and promote the city’s partnership with outside agencies to address community needs on Friday, December 6. Committee members will provide information regarding city council and city commission meetings, and will also pass out information from Foothill Transit, Los Angeles County Sanitation District, and the Mosquito and Vector Control District.
The next Youth Committee bi-monthly meeting will be on Thursday, January 23rd at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person.

Lights on Temple City
Grab your mittens and your wish list and jingle over to Lights On TC on Friday, December 6th, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.! This dazzling family favorite event is held at Temple City Park, located at 9701 Las Tunas Drive, and will feature real snow sled rides, snow play areas, food, arts and crafts, entertainment, photos with Santa, tree lighting ceremony, live band, and much more. Be sure to catch the parade at 7:00 p.m. down Las Tunas Dr. and watch the magic as Santa comes down the street!

Holiday Decorating Contest
Calling all homes and businesses! The annual Holiday Decorating Contest arrives this December. Residents and business owners alike are encouraged to show their festive spirit by dusting off their holiday decorations and untangling their holiday lights. The holidays are made for celebrating! Registration is not required to participate, just be sure to have all your holiday décor on display starting at 5:00pm, beginning on December 9, 2024.
Contest Details & Rules:
- Only residences and businesses within the City of Temple City are eligible.
- There is no registration or cost required to participate.
- Judging will be based on holiday-themed decor on the exterior of a property.
- Winners will receive a Holiday Decorating Contest lawn sign.
- Winners from the previous year are not eligible for the contest.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT NOVEMBER 2024 REPORT
The Community Development Department’s November 2024 report highlights significant growth in building activity compared to the same period last year.
Building permit valuations in November 2024 increased by 64% compared to November 2023, reflecting strong construction activity. Building permit fees also saw a notable rise, with a 27% increase over the previous year. Despite these increases, the total number of permits issued remained consistent, with 155 permits granted. Notable permits included a three-unit condominium development, several single-family home additions, and multiple accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
The Planning Department received eight new applications in November, seven of which were for ADUs. The remaining application was for a single-family house addition.
One new business license was issued in November 2024 for a real estate office.
The number of Community Preservation cases opened in November 2024 remained stable compared to last year, with 132 cases initiated. Of these, 63% were proactively opened by inspectors, while 28% resulted from public reports.
