On Our Calendar
Adobe Power Users meets at 10 a.m. on the first Friday of every month on Zoom. Adobe Power Users is our faculty/staff learning community devoted to all things Adobe. This Friday will be a special session on setting your creative goals and getting your Creative Cloud and Adobe life organized. Message Heather about joining our Power Users group on Teams for all the fun details.
Future Creatives meets Friday at 11 a.m. Future Creatives is our student creative group focused on learning more in Adobe and creating portfolio content. We are starting with After Effects, so if you are interested, let Heather know.

Bringing portfolios into your class
The school expects all students to have a strong, updated portfolio when they graduate. This process starts in JMC 104 where students set up a basic portfolio and continues in JMC 304 where students learn more about personalizing their work. Every class plays a part in continuing portfolio development. Here are some options to add portfolios to your class:
Good : Note what project(s) would be good to add to a portfolio. Help students link what they did in class to how that translates to job skills.
Better : To the above, require the addition of a project (s) to a student portfolio and provide a rubric for students to assess completion. This may include time to work on in class, an additional assignment or an appearance from Heather.
Best : All of the above and assist students in seeking a professional review of their portfolio. This is the ideal final step for capstone classes.

Export InDesign to Express
Adobe InDesign documents can be exported to Adobe Express, allowing Adobe Express users to edit and customize InDesign templates quickly and easily online. The InDesign documents can be opened and edited as native Express documents.
This is a great way to have students share content or to edit easily.

Free Express
Make sure you are taking advantage of the Free Premium Express offered to everyone at KU! Express is a great tool because you know the content you use is commercially safe. Additionally, Express DOESN'T train on what you create (unlike OTHER content creation tools - cough cough).

Premiere Pro Project Templates
I have resisted project templates for a while, but am really impressed with the social media templates in Premiere Pro. With folder organization and predesigned sequences, you are guaranteed to start off organized and on the right track.
The sequences provide correct settings for orientation and audio, as well as overlays of the social media interface. No more having the interface in the way of your video! The caption placement is even done for you!
