Grandparents Day

Our Grandparents Day on Friday 24th October was a wonderful celebration filled with student plays, dancing, and heartfelt poems, showcasing the talents and creativity of our students. We were delighted to welcome over 80 grandparents and parents, including a special great grandmother who once attended Mulbring Public School herself. A big thank you to our P&C for providing a delicious morning tea that was enjoyed by all. We also raised approximately $1,000 from the auction of year 4, 5, and 6 paintings, and we are grateful for the generous cash donations totalling $100 from grandparents. The funds raised will be used to purchase special art supplies, further enriching our students’ learning experiences. Thank you to everyone who made this day so memorable and successful!

CLASS STRUCTURES FOR 2026

Next year, we will be implementing four stage-based classes from Early Stage 1 (ES1) through to Stage 3 (ST3), operating for three days each week- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This approach allows students to learn and collaborate within their developmental stage, ensuring teaching can be tailored to their specific needs and abilities. By grouping students in this way, we can foster a supportive learning environment that encourages age-appropriate social interaction, targeted instruction, and smooth transitions between stages. Additionally, this structure enables teachers to better plan and differentiate lessons, resulting in improved learning outcomes and stronger educational engagement for all students. On Thursdays and Fridays, we will revert to three classes, each with approximately 20 students. During these days, students will participate in a range of engaging subjects including Music, Library, Sport, SRE, and Art. This structure provides students with the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills, and enjoy a well-rounded educational experience. The low student-to-teacher ratio on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is considered beneficial because it allows each teacher to give more individual attention to each student, making it easier to cater to different learning needs and support student engagement.

Monday, Tuesday Wednesday;

Kindergarten- Mrs. Pinchen

Years 1 and 2- Mr. Hemsworth

Years 3 and 4- Mr. Budden

Years 5 and 6- Mr. O'Connor

Thursday and Friday;

Kindergarten/Year 1- Mrs. Pinchen

2/3/4- Mr. Hemsworth

4/5/6- Mr. O'Connor

It is a necessity to split our Years 4's on Thursday and Friday to keep the numbers equitable in all classes. The Year 4 students will be placed according to their needs and independence in classroom activities.

Staff are excited about adopting this new stage-based and smaller class size model, as it aligns with educational research showing that targeted teaching within developmental stages and lower student-to-teacher ratios lead to improved student outcomes, greater engagement, and stronger relationships in the classroom. Studies consistently highlight the benefits of personalised learning environments, which support both academic growth and social development. We encourage parents to join us in supporting this approach, as your involvement and commitment are vital to its success and to helping every student thrive. Together, we can create a positive and enriching learning journey for all children.

Children’s University Graduation Ceremony

All students in Class 4/5/6 are looking forward to the upcoming Children’s University Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, 25th November. This exciting event will take place at the University of Newcastle, where students will be recognised for their dedication to learning beyond the classroom alongside participants from schools across the Newcastle region.
