Cylchlythyr Ysgol Saltney Ferry

"Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

What another amazing week in Saltney Ferry! I'd like to thank all the staff for giving your children such amazing opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. From Zumba in nursery to Mortgage advice in Y5/6. A week to go until half term and let's hope the weather improves! If anyone is in Chester Sunday morning and sees me running the Chester Half Marathon to raise money for Crohn's and Colitis, please give me a shout - I'm going to need it! L. Williams

Saltney Small Steps

This week we have been using our maths skills  to look at patterns and make beautiful butterflies. Through our play and stories, we have been talking about length with the worms in the mud - tasty snack for the hens! We have also been helping to care for our green beans.

Dosbarth Alwen have enjoyed making friendship bracelets for one another - creating 3 part patterns🤩 Nursery have been sequencing familiar events and talking about their school day putting them in the correct order using time connectives - first, next, then, after, last. We enjoyed a visit from Sophie, a Zumba instructor who raised our heart rates & got us dancing🕺 Reception completed their name writing assessments & the progression from September blew my socks off, so proud 🤩👏

This week in Dosbarth Padarn we have been learning about time and our daily routine in maths. We have ordered the daily routine and recorded the time that we do these during the day.  In language we have finished writing our speeches and have peer reviewed our friends speeches ready for us to record next week.

We have been looking at silent talking this week and how to communicate using our hands and expressions.
The children have learnt how to sign hello, thank you and how are you using British language.

The Children have also designed their own superheroes as one of their missions this week. We have been out to the road on the yard and learnt to cross the road correctly and had great fun making music with the boom whackers!

We also say a sad goodbye to Mrs Robertson and wish her all the luck with her teaching career. She will be very missed!

Dosbarth Tegid have had a fab week exploring different ways of showing our understanding in multiplication. Super effort and support with our friends. Many of our class joined Clwb Ffermio for the first time this week and great to see them enjoying the outdoors, planting and feeding the animals. We have begun learning more about farmers around our country and what they do for us. As part of our growing task and business we are eager to 'beet' our friends and 'root' ourselves as the champions! Next week we will explore more on money, growing more produce and finding out about fabulous farmers!

Dosbarth Brenig have reviewed their letter writing skills and strengthened them with debate, raising issues and offering solutions. It has been great to see their ideas and presentation develop this half term. In maths we have refined our money skills using previous learning. We have begun to use them in real life situations on our farm and as part of our little businesses. When you are out shopping please do encourage your children to discuss the price of items and total costing. We had a great session with Gwynant as part of a presentation on mortgages this week! Our final week will be a big focus on finance, health and reflecting on our learning this half term. Next half term plenty of football, culture as we learn about a new country and explore new skills in our final half term of the year!

We've had another fantastic week in Dosbarth Gwynant!

On Monday we had a visit with a mortgage advisor and business owner called Chris from Nook Mortgages. He taught us all about owning a business, savings accounts and even about buying houses! We had the chance to ask him lots of questions about these topics and the children blew him away with their curiosity, knowledge, and maturity! We are so proud⭐️ We have written some lovely haikus about our school community and what it means to us, I will post some on dojo over the next few days for you to read! As always, we have loved time outside on the farm and checking in on our animals! What a lovely week🙌🏻

Clwb Ffermio

This week we welcomed new farmers from our younger class. They learnt a great deal from our experienced members and despite the wet weather loved their session - the reality of having animals.

We discussed how to check on our animals, paddocks are stimulating and got onto lead training the goats thanks to our parents help this week.

Community is a key element to our farm - without everyone's input it wouldn't work. We've families this week give monetary donations, their time to get jobs done, donating leads for the goats and thank you also to Richard for fetching a big round hay bale. Diolch o galon to you all.
