MOMU Ice Cream is now open and located on 575 Riverside Ave, Westport, CT, where the old Saugatuck Sweets used to be.
There are many ice cream options, some being extremely unique. Flavors such as honey, lavender and marshmallow, Kneads bread and matcha are different from what most ice cream places serve like chocolate or vanilla. These flavors are what make MOMU so original.
Carolina Proctor ’25 tried the s'mores, oreo and Kneads bread flavors.
"The s'mores was definitely my favorite. It was interesting that they put fluff. I think it added some good texture," Proctor said. "The bread was disgusting; I don't recommend it. Bread is not meant to go in ice cream."
Although there is no actual bread in the ice cream, Greens Farms Academy student Clementine Kirt ’26 disliked that flavor as well, and her favorite flavor was also the s'mores ice cream.
"I liked the s'mores ice cream[...]. I thought that I liked the texture of it in comparison to the oreo," Kirt said.
"I think that the atmosphere is really nice—I think that they did a really great job with the interior and I think that the color scheme is really fun," Kirt said.
Pierrepoint student Elizabeth Ben ’28 chose the lavender marshmallows flavor.
"I think it's really good,” Ben said. “It's really unique; I never had any ice cream like this before. It's different and I'm getting used to it, but I like it."
Pierrepoint student Tedora Diaconu ’28 got the cookie dough ice cream and the lavender ice cream.
"Out of five, I'd probably rate it like a three and a half but I would definitely come here again," Diaconu said. "It's really nice by the water— the areas are really cute; I like the outside tables and everything."
MOMU Ice Cream offers a great setting and cool ice cream flavors, though customers found some of these flavors a little too unique and the ice cream a bit too pricey. Really, it’s hard to live up to the great Saugatuck Sweets name.
