Our Mission
To create, enhance, promote and preserve trails and trail experiences for all recreational users in and around El Dorado County, and to create a trail-friendly community through awareness, safety, and advocacy.
Our Vision
Trails connect communities, promote a healthy, active lifestyle for residents and drive the economy through events and tourism. Our vision is to increase trail diversity and opportunities through a thriving outdoor community that is engaged in the advocacy, creation, use, and maintenance of trails on public and private land in El Dorado County's Western Slope.
Board of Directors
Members of the board of directors are trustees who act on behalf of an organization's participants, funders, and members. Board Directors are the most active and passionate members willing to dedicate time and energy to the success of of the organizational mission, determining vision and purpose, and are responsible for the financial and administrative operations.
MLTS is looking for dedicated individuals to fill the following roles:
board treasurer
Monitors the financial health of the organization. Liaison with strategic financial partners including banking, tax and audit, HR and insurance. Assists in preparation of budgets and financial reporting
Mission Directors
We are continuously looking for leaders who have a high level of commitment and develop into President and Vice President roles. These roles work closely with private, city, county, and federal land managers... massaging relationships, continuously advocating and identifying opportunities for partnership and trail development. This is the back room work that few see, but is essential to the success of the mission.
Social directors
Fueling the fun and helping grow the organization. Social directors coordinate events, parties, lead group rides, and are the community liaisons who help keep members engaged and are the outreach that bring in new members.
Social directors bring the stoke by providing hospitality support for workdays, facilitating group rides and hikes in between work opportunities, partnering with existing events to generate awareness, and help plan and execute fundraising events.
Work directors
Work directors display the organization's skill and commitment through work on the ground. These are the doers... trail bosses, crew leaders, mapmakers, and carpenters who are critical to achieving the ultimate goal of better trails and improved access. These active members like to get dirty but also are responsible for transporting and maintaining equipment, and manage volunteers on and scheduling workdays.
To better manage the large territory that MLTS covers, we seek multiple work directors that are familiar with and passionate about the different areas in our region to divide duties sustainably. If you're passionate about a specific area such as: El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park & Shingle Springs, Coloma/Lotus, Georgetown, Placerville, Pollock Pines/Sly Park, or the high country region there are opportunities to make change!
Communications directors (Secratary)
Communications director(s) take on various roles to help keep the organization connected with its members, including:
Board Secretary: Scheduling regular meetings, creating agendas, taking and publishing meeting minutes, and reviewing official board communications
Member Communications Director: Works with Social and Work directors to maintain the event calendar, and manages email communications to members.
Social Media Director: Works with Social and Work directors to share opportunities on social media, gather photos and videos and develop a social media marketing schedule to keep the regular drumbeat of activity alive for community engagement.
Join our team & make a difference
To accomplish our goals we need members, and member participation. We need leaders to engage those members and create community. The more people who show up for a group ride the more fun we have, the more who show up on a workday the faster things get done and the more people who show up at advocacy events make a case for more trails!
