Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers, I do hope you and your families are keeping well? We have had another good week in school. The children and young people have established their routines after the Whit break and we have finished off the examinations we needed to, with our Year 11 and Post 16 pupils. We have been very pleased with maturity shown by our CYP and their prep for these important external examinations. We are very busy with our planning for September 2026 and it was lovely to see the new pupils in school on Thursday evening this week, at their Welcome Evening. Thank you to Ms Nesbitt and Ms Hunter for organising the ‘get together’, which I know was appreciated by all the new children and their families. We are also busy preparing for the handover for the full new build site. The second phase of new build will be complete in early August and we will be handed over the full site in late August, ready for the new term. It is an exciting time in terms of leaving the building site behind, but we certainly have a lot to do to be ready to fully open in September. We now have only 6 weeks left of this final half term and have a lot of events and activities planned for pupils to be involved in during the final part of the summer term, which we know the CYP will engage with and enjoy. Can I remind you please that School is closed for pupils on Friday 26th June, as it is an INSET day for the staff? These activities include (more details to follow)
- Year 10 Work Experience, 8th and 15th June, Manchester Museum
- Careers Morning, 16th June

- Sports afternoon, TBC
- End of Year reward trips, Mon 20th July
- Halle Visit, July 15th
- Leavers Mass, 17th July

The Summer term will end on Friday 24th July, with the start of the new academic year beginning on Wednesday September 2nd at 9am for our pupils. Tuesday 1st September will be an INSET day for our staff. Very best wishes for the week ahead. Mr A Moloney, Headteacher

Our Catholic School
"Prayer nourishes the friendship of the soul with God."
- St Teresa of Ávila
We are encouraging all members of our school community to take time for prayer and reflection, strengthening their relationship with God in simple, but meaningful ways.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to complete the parental questionnaire for our Catholic School Inspection. Your thoughtful and affirming comments were truly inspiring and we greatly value your continued support of our school community. As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening our Catholic life, Father Nick and I recently attended the Diocesan Secondary Heads of RE and Chaplaincy meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together with colleagues, share ideas and celebrate the work taking place across our schools. During the meeting, I had the pleasure of presenting on Collective Worship at SJV, including how we monitor and develop our provision and how our Annual Plan of Provision (APOP) supports us in evaluating and enriching the spiritual life of our school. Across the school, students have continued their learning about world religions. They have been exploring topics that interest them most, allowing them to take ownership of their learning and deepen their understanding of different beliefs and traditions. It has been lovely to see their curiosity and enthusiasm as they engage in this important work.

Work Experience
Work experience is a very special part of school life and plays an important role in helping our young people grow in confidence, independence and self-belief. For our children & young people, work experience is about so much more than preparing for future jobs. It's about learning new skills, building confidence in different environments, developing communication and teamwork and discovering the many gifts and talents they have to offer. Every new experience, no matter how big or small, is a wonderful step forward. Throughout Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, pupils take part in a range of work experience opportunities both in school and off site. Each year they experience a different placement and by the time they finish in Post-16, some pupils may have taken part in up to five different work experiences. Our off-site work experience often takes place in small groups, which provides the support, encouragement and familiarity many of our pupils need to thrive. Working alongside friends and trusted adults helps pupils feel secure as they explore new places and take on new responsibilities. Some of our placements include Manchester Museum, The Holiday Inn, RHS Bridgewater and The Lalley Centre, where pupils have the chance to experience the wider community in meaningful and positive ways.
As part of their Work Related Learning curriculum, pupils also take part in weekly in-school work experience. These roles include supporting in the school office, helping in Key Stage 3 classes and assisting with site maintenance around school. These opportunities help pupils build practical skills, take pride in their contribution and see themselves as valued members of our school community. As a Catholic school, we believe that every child is unique, loved by God and blessed with their own special dignity and purpose. Work experience helps our pupils to live out these values through service, teamwork and community. It reminds us all that every young person has something meaningful to give and that success can look different for every child. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, courage and resilience our pupils show when taking part in work experience, which is a joyful and important part of our curriculum, helping our young people prepare for adult life with confidence, hope and a growing sense of what they can achieve.
