I (April) learned how to talk about Jesus, study the Bible and lead others in deepening their faith through Cru at Marshall University.
I wanted to take that knowledge to the world, to those with less access and resources. That was 32 years ago.
Together, we have served on local campuses in the U.S., at the national leadership level in Mexico, and in global missions and mobilization efforts, while raising our four children.
Every day students wake up and walk on to campus asking the big questions of life: What is my purpose? Is there a God? Does he care about me?
While the gospel has spread in Latin America and Africa, the college campuses are holdouts. They are often spiritual deserts, and local churches lack the resources and manpower to target them. We want to come alongside, sending believers to reach these students with the gospel and disciple them at this critical time of their lives.
These are the future leaders in business and in the church for their cities and countries. Like Victor, pictured here left of Matt, who leads Cru's national ministry in Mexico now, but was once a college student led to Christ by a short-term mission participant. Stories like his are many.
When students from the U.S. go and return, they are better equipped and have a greater passion to reach their fellow students here in the U.S. with the gospel as well.
