Roman Legacy

weeks 5 & 6

This half term, we have really enjoyed learning all about the Romans. In our final two weeks, we focused on the lasting legacy the Romans left behind after they left Britain.

As part of our learning, the children explored what the Romans left behind and created their own artefacts. One of our favourite activities was making Roman clocks, where we used our knowledge of Roman numerals to design them.

We also designed Roman coins!

To bring our learning to life, we imagined that the Anglo-Saxons were coming to attack Britain just after the Romans had left! The children worked together to design and create their own Roman forts to protect themselves.

In English, the children have been looking at myths and have enjoyed writing their own myths about some of the Roman gods!

We ended the week by consolidating all of our learning with an exciting visit to the Great North Museum. During the Romans workshop, the children had a fantastic time and deepened their understanding even further.
