Reminder!

  • UPCOMING DARK MEETING in July! City Council meetings take place on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, with the exception of the second meetings in July, November and December in accordance with Resolution No. 6827. Meetings are live-streamed on the City’s YouTube and CTV3 channels.

2024 Elections

The 2024 General Elections are scheduled for November 5, 2024. At the City Council meeting of June 11, 2024 the City Council approved several resolutions officially calling for the holding of the City of Pico Rivera’s General Municipal Elections in November to elect three members to the City Council. The seats are currently held by Mayor Andrew C. Lara, Councilmember Erik Lutz, and Councilwoman Dr. Monica Sanchez. Those persons elected in the November 2024 elections will serve a four (4) year term expiring in November 2028.

Candidate Information

Interested in running for office in the upcoming City elections? The nomination period for the November 5th election will begin Monday, July 15th through Friday, August 9th. Our office will begin taking appointments for nomination paper submittals beginning July 1, 2024. Candidate nomination handbook and forms will be distributed by appointment only during the nomination period. Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy (PRIME) Power Choice

Free Composting Workshop - June 29, 2024

  • Curious about learning how to turn food scraps into compost for a garden or yard? Discover how to transform everyday organic waste into valuable fertilizer at the City’s Composting Workshop hosted on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12 PM at the Pico Rivera Library, 9001 Mines Avenue, Pico Rivera, CA 90660.
  • Unable to attend? No worries! Two more composting workshops will be offered in the upcoming months. Residents are encouraged to follow the City on our Instagram page for more information on this event and other upcoming workshops using the button below.

Making Waves in Water Conservation: Pico Rivera Dives into the Discussion at the Growing Water Smart Workshop

  • The City is excited to celebrate our dedicated Pico Rivera team who recently attended the Growing Water Smart Workshop!
  • This impactful 3-day workshop, held June 3-5, 2024, brought together key community decision-makers and stakeholders to address California's unique land and water use challenges. The Pico Rivera team joined forces with elected officials, water resource managers, and land use planners to develop innovative strategies for sustainable water use, watershed health, and water resilience.
  • The City is appreciative of the Sonoran Institute, Water Education for Latino Leaders (WELL), the Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy, and the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District for hosting and initiating this dialogue. We are excited to continue this collaboration as we integrate water resilience strategies into the City’s Climate Action Plan.

Community and Economic Development

Community Development Block Grant (CBG)

Each fiscal year, the City receives federal Community Development Block Grant Funds and must approve a plan for how these funds will be spent. On June 11th, the City Council approved the expenditure plan for this year's $589,071 grant. These funds will support vital community services, including fair housing assistance, meals at the Senior Center, and a food pantry. Additionally, the funds will cover critical home repairs for low-income homeowners and contribute to the rehabilitation and construction work needed to restore the Pico Rivera Youth Center.

Community Events & Programming Recap

Park Pals Returns at Rio Hondo Park

Welcoming back the popular drop-in program, Parks Pals! Park Pals will be held at Rio Hondo Park Monday through Friday from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. The program offers a variety of crafts, activities, nature projects, and games in a fun and safe environment. The Program began June 17, 2024 and will end on August 9, 2024.

Father-Son Dodger Game - June 15, 2024

Fathers and sons enjoyed an evening of Los Angeles Dodgers baseball when they took on the Kansas City Royals! Attendees were provided a commemorative City T-shirt included with their ticket purchase.

Update on 2024 Fireworks Spectacular

Movies in the Parks - July 12, 2024

  • The City of Pico Rivera will be hosting a movie night at Rivera Park in July. Our first showing will be Friday, July 12, 2024 we will be watching The Sandlot.
  • On Friday, July 19, 2024, we will be showing Coco.
  • We'll be kicking off Friday, July 26, 2024 with Kong Fu Panda 4.
