Pentathlon and Heptathlon

The Multi event athletes kicked off the action on Friday. The Men’s 60 as part of the Heptathlon was the first event of the day, and Santi Benbow got his first Heptathlon started strong, running a time of 7.51 seconds! Zach Villegas ran a strong race, running a time of 7.60 seconds, only 0.03 seconds off his personal best in the event! Alex Robin set a personal best with a time of 7.90 seconds!

The women kicked off the Pentathlon in the 60 Hurdles and Anaya Thomas got her first Pentathlon ever off to a great start, setting a personal best with her time of 9.38 seconds! Trintje Nydam was next across the finish line ina time of 9.54 seconds and Morgan Rome set a personal best in the 60 Hurdles with her time of 10.91 seconds!

The next event of the Heptathlon was the Long Jump, where Alex Robin set a personal best with a jump of 5.79 meters (19' 0")! Zach Villegas jumped well, jumping 5.77 meters (18' 11.25") and unfortunately an injury forced him to withdraw from the Heptathlon. Santi Benbow competed in Long Jump for the first time, jumping 4.99 meters (16' 4.5")!

Next for the women in the Pentathlon was the High Jump, Anaya Thomas cleared 1.55 meters (5’ 1”) and made attempts at her personal best in the event and won the Pentathlon High Jump! Morgan Rome cleared 1.37 meters (4' 6") and made good attempts at clearing her personal best in the event, a great sign of good things to come for her in the event! Trintje Nydam cleared 1.34 meters (4' 4.75").

Next in the Heptathlon, Alex Robin threw a mark of 9.19 meters (30' 2") and Santi Benbow threw a mark of 6.48 meters (21' 3.25")!

In the Shot Put, Morgan threw a mark of 10.29 meters (33' 9.25"), Anaya Thomas set a personal best with a throw of 8.39 meters (27' 6.5") and Trintje Nydam threw 7.92 meters (26' 0")!

In the final event of the day of the Heptathlon, Alex Robin cleared 1.82 meters (5' 11.5") and Santi Benbow cleared 1.43 meters (4' 8.25")!

In the Long Jump, the penultimate event of the Pentathlon, Anaya Thomas jumped 4.73 meters (15' 6.25"), Trintje Nydam jumped 4.50 meters (14' 9.25") and Morgan Rome jumped 4.43 meters (14' 6.5")!

In the 800, the final event of the Pentathlon, Trintje placed third, running a time of 2:45! Morgan set a personal best with a time of 2:46 to place fourth and Anaya competed hard to run a time of 2:52 to place 6th. With the points tallied, Anaya Thomas placed second with a score of 2,859 points! Trintje Nydam placed third with a score of 2,585 points and Morgan Rome placed fourth in her first Pentathlon with a score of 2,487 points!

The Heptathlon kicked off on Saturday with the 60 Hurdles, and Alex Robin set a personal best, running a time of 9.80 seconds! Santi Benbow competed well and ran a time of 11.37 seconds.

In the Penultimate event of the Heptathlon, Alex Robin won the Pole Vault by clearing 4.00 meters (13' 1.5") and Santi Benbow set a personal best by clearing 3.20 meters (10' 6")!

In the final event of the Heptathlon, the 1,000 meters, Santi Benbow got out hard and ran away from the field, winning in a time of 3:00! Alex Robin ran a strong race, making a decisive move for second place two laps into the race and held onto second place, running a time of 3:11! With the points tallied, Alex Robin placed third with a score of 3,960 points and Santi Benbow placed fifth with a score of 3,081 points!

Shot Put

The Shot Put was an excellent event for the Mammoths, as Emma Ramsingh placed second with a huge personal best throw of 11.08 meters (36' 4.25")! Beth Martin placed 5th with a big personal best throw of 10.63 meters (34' 10.5") and Isabella Niemi placed 8th with a personal best throw of 10.39 meters (34' 1.25")! Deb Thayer placed 14th with a throw of 9.18 meters (30' 1.5")and Carolina Andrade made her debut in the shot put, placing 18th with a throw of 8.93 meters (29' 3.75").

In the Men's Shot Put, Jacob Shine placed fifth with a personal best throw of 13.29 meters (43' 7.25")! Hugh Lemmon-Kishi placed 13th with a throw of 11.12 meters (36' 5.75") and David Brown placed 21st with a throw of 9.91 meters (32' 6.25") throwing left-handed.

Weight Throw

Charlie Spurrell won the Weight Throw, using a huge last throw to earn the victory! Charlie won with a throw of 17.15 meters (56' 3.25")! David Brown placed 8th with a throw of 12.96 meters (42' 6.25"), Jacob Shine placed 16th and set a personal best with a throw of 11.10 meters (36' 5") and Alex MacDonald placed 20th with a throw of 10.30 meters (33' 9.5")!

In the Women's Weight Throw, Beth Martin placed 6th with a throw of 12.07 meters (39' 7.25"), her second best throw ever! Emma Ramsingh placed 11th with a throw of 11.08 meters (36' 4.25"), Deb Thayer placed 22nd with a throw of 8.96 meters (29' 4.75") and Isabella Niemi placed 29th with a throw of 6.99 meters (22' 11.25").

60 Meter Hurdles

Bridget Cassata earned a lane in the 60 Hurdles Final by placing 6th in the Preliminaries in a time of 10.12, a season best time, and placed 7th in the final in a time of 10.26 seconds!

Mile

In the Mile, Parker Boyle used a strong second half of the race to place sixth in a time of 4:24! Aidan Gemme ran a strong even split race to place 15th in a time of 4:30 and Drew Stephens moved up well to place 25th overall in a time of 4:38.

400 Meters

In the 400, Ava Zielinski ran a strong race, getting out hard and was right on the heels of the race leader with one lap to go in the race. Ava ran a gritty second half of the race and fought to the line, placing second in a time of 1:02!

Payton Sorensen won the Pole Vault with a huge personal best jump, clearing 3.35 meters (10’ 11.75”) and she also took several good attempts at the School Record! Mia Bawendi placed 4th, clearing 3.20 meters (10’ 6”), Jordan Hecker placed 6th and cleared 3.05 meters (10’ 0”), and Bridget Cassata placed 8th and cleared 2.75 meters (9’ 0.25”), a season best! Double check. Muffie Mazambani placed 12th and cleared 2.15 meters (7’ 0.5”), which looks to be the National Record for Zimbabwe in the Indoor Pole Vault!

In the Men's Pole Vault, Alec Kuzyk placed second with a huge personal best jump of 4.40 meters (14' 5.25")!

Triple Jump

After a great Pentathlon on Friday, Anaya Thomas placed second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.82 meters (35’ 6”)!

600 Meters

Both Parker Boyle and Piper Lentz competed for the first time ever in the 600, and both ran well! Parker used a speedy last lap to nearly win the race, placing second in a time of 1:23! All the more impressive, Parker competed in the 600 not long after competing in the Mile! Piper made a great move on the final lap to place second in the 600 in a time of 1:40!

1,000 Meters

In the 1,000, Ben Davis won in a stellar personal best time of 2:29! Aidan Gemme paced the first half of the race, setting Ben up perfectly. Ben made a big move for the lead with one lap to go after sitting in second place on a competitor to pull away for the win! Drew Stephens competed in the heat prior, running a time of 2:53 to place 6th.

Distance Medley Relay

The Women’s Distance Medley Relay was the final event of the day for the Mammoths and the Mammoths won! Zoe Marcus led off and ran a great 1200 leg, positioning herself right behind the race leader and handed off to Piper Lentz in second place! Piper got out hard for the first lap of her 400 and on the second lap, passed the race leader to put the Mammoths in the lead! Ava Zielinski ran a strong 800 leg running by herself to extend the leadand handed the baton to Bella Lozier in first place! Bella ran a smart race in the 1600 leg, clicking off even splits for each lap and brought the Mammoths across the finish line in first place and extended the lead even more as the Mammoths ran a time of 12:32!

The smaller squad of Mammoths that competed all competed well and brought great energy to the meet, and we're so grateful for all of the support from near and far!

NEXT UP for the Mammoths is the New England Small College Invitational on SUNDAY, January 28th. The meet will begin at 9 AM.
