Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!
Welcome to a new half term! I cannot believe we are already half way through this academic year. We have lots of exciting events this half term in the run up to Easter including lots of events for parents to get involved with, including World Book Day and British Science Week. Please check out all of the dates below for this half term.
Miss Jobling will be holding an SEN Coffee Morning at 2pm on Thursday 6th March. Why not come along for a coffee and chat before going into classes for World Book Day!
Thursday 6th March next week is World Book Day! Children can dress as their favourite character from a book (or wear non school uniform if they would prefer). In the afternoon we will be holding a tuck shop in the school hall which children can visit if they would like to bring some money in. We are also opening classroom doors early from 2:45pm to invite parents/carers/family into school. This will be an opportunity to see how we teach phonics and reading across school with a focus on developing fluency and then an opportunity for children to share some of their favourite books with you. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
We will be supporting the FA’s Let Girls’ Play Campaign on Friday 7th March for the 4th year in a row. We would like to invite all children to wear football kit or sports wear for the day (including trainers) as they will be taking part in a range of football activities for part of the day. We apologise for the double non- uniform day next week but these are to support national campaigns
West Meadows are supporting the 3rd annual Food Bank Drive for Stocksbridge Cub group. If you would like to make any donations of tinned food, UHT milk, dish or laundry soap, nappies or toiletries, please bring them into school from Monday. Thank you for your support.
In order to enable Year 4 parents to meet with Mrs Smith to learn about their child’s progress, we are holding Year 4 Parents’ Meetings on Thursday 13th March. This is the week before Parents’ Evening for the rest of the school. Appointments will be bookable via Arbor from Monday 3rd March. Parents’ Evening for all other year groups will be held on Wednesday 19th March from 2pm and appointments for these are also bookable via Arbor from Monday. We look forward to seeing you there!
We are seeing an increasing rise in lateness to school. A reminder that pupils should be on the playground and lined up ready to enter the classrooms at 8:45am where they do a morning task. Being on time to school is an important part of settling into school for the day, including having toast, register, starting the first learning of the day and sharing news so please support us in ensuring all children have a prompt start to every day. Many thanks.
Every Friday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life. We really need your support this year to raise our attendance. If you need any help or support please come and see Mrs Maree. You can see your own child’s attendance for the year and the last 4 weeks on the Arbor App. An attendance of 97% or above is considered to e good attendance.
