It's a Big, Bright, Beautiful World

nURSERY, SUMMER TERM, WEEK 10

We have continued talking about our big, beautiful world and how it looks different in different places. This week, we looked at photos from countries that are special to our families, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Iraq and countries across Africa. It was wonderful to celebrate the many places that make our class so unique.

If you get a chance, spend some time with your child on Google Earth  (click for the link).

After exploring places around the world together, we enjoyed spending time outdoors in our own little corner of it. The children had lots of fun practising their ball skills ready for Sports Day next Wednesday morning. Full details will be shared on ClassDojo.

Developing our athletic and games skills.

Our stories this week have been about different cultures and travel. We enjoyed reading All Are Welcome Here, a lovely story about welcoming everyone and making people feel they belong. The children even learnt two ambitious new words: community and diversity!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Read, Play, Connect session. A special mention to our youngest reader, who already enjoys a bedtime story every night. It's never too early to share a love of reading!

The children's writing skills continue to grow. This week, we focused on the tricky x shape, which requires careful pencil control. The children had to think about where to start and stop each line, lifting and repositioning the pen to complete the letter correctly.

A few more highlights from our week...

The children's small world imaginative play has been wonderfully creative and collaborative.

Thank you to Miss Davison for teaching us new dance moves.

Using herbs and flowers, the children created some beautiful 3D artwork inspired by the natural world.
It's always wonderful to see the children enjoying books together, especially when they read to one another.

There is lots to look forward to next week. On Tuesday morning, we have our class assembly, and in the afternoon the children will spend time in the Reception classroom with their new teacher. We also have Sports Day on Wednesday morning. Please note that there will be no Read, Play, Connect session on Wednesday due to Sports Day. Please watch for updates and further information on ClassDojo.
