(new)-vaccine requirements
You should have received a message via ParentSquare and a letter in your child's backpack if your student is out of compliance. Please note: exemption day is September 2. Students without the required documentation will not be able to attend school until it is received. For questions, please contact Audrey Atkinson, JB Health Assistant.
(Reminder) E-learning Days
Please mark your calendars! The below days students will NOT come to school, but will complete their school at home that day. GC staff participate in professional learning these days.
(REMINDER) IPADS
Student IPADS in grades k-4 will not be going home, as they have in the past. They will stay at school and charge each night. Therefore, insurance is not being offered. In cases of Elearning Days or Inclement weather, you may see your child's school issued IPAD.
(Reminder): Arrival
GREAT JOB! On our morning arrival procedures. The zipper merge is keeping traffic off blue road and running smoothly. Please note, the visitor parking lot is one way IN one way OUT! This helps keep the flow of the parking lot safe.
WALK UP: If you are walking your child up to the front door in the morning. Please do not leave them unattended. Once the bell rings and JB staff open the doors, you may return to your vehicles.

School Dismissal Manager is an online platform we will use to communicate from home and school if there is a change in a student's dismissal. This will go LIVE this week! Please be on the lookout for an email to set up your account.
(reminder) Student Attendance Updates
NEW: Clarification on Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 482
Recently, we have had an increased number of parents and other stakeholders reach out for clarity on the implications of a new law passed in 2025 regarding school attendance.
The primary change resulting from SEA 482 is that schools will now report additional data regarding the type of excused absence. Many schools already collect this data, which enables schools, educators, and parents/families to work together to support students, as well as triage attendance challenges as needed.
There is not an impact on students or families, as SEA 482 does not change who decides what counts as an excused or unexcused absence. Local school boards and district policies still make those decisions. The information in our handbook about what constitutes an excused absence and how all absences will be handled is still accurate.
There are no penalties for excused absences in Indiana law. State law only requires intervention for unexcused absences. The only change this year is that after 5 absences school staff will make contact with families to check on the student and discuss any issues that may be a barrier to attendance. What is considered excused or unexcused is a local decision made by school administration so it is important to keep communication open with school staff. We want to work with all families to make sure students are at school when possible, but realize the need for occasional absence
(Reminder) Save the Date: Parent Informational Nights
We'd like to invite parents Back to School! Please join us for an informational night regarding JB and your child's classroom. Your child's teacher will spend about 20-30 minutes discussing the classroom, procedures, grading, policies, expectations, etc. We encourage students to stay at home this evening.
