Boys Basketball

14-16 Overall Record - 5-7 in WSC - 4th Place West Suburban Conference

LT started their season hosting their own Thanksgiving Tournament. They had multiple key victories over top competition including three teams who won over 25 games, and one team who won a sectional title.
The boys played well at the York Holiday Invitational where they went 3-1 over the four day tournament. The Lions also hosted their annual "Blackout" game and participated in the Mental Health Awareness Pack the Place. They also beat Hinsdale Central with a half court, last second shot to end the fourth ranked Red Devils 25 game win streak.
In the IHSA Regional, LT lost to a tough Curie team that eventually won the Regional The Lions played some of their best basketball to finish out their season.

Girls Basketball

31-3 Overall Record - 12-0 in WSC - 1st Place in the West Suburban Conference - Won the WSC Crossover Game - IHSA Regional Champions - Finished the Season Ranked 7th in State in 4A

This winter, our girls' basketball team etched its place in the history books with a truly unforgettable, record-breaking season. With an impressive 31-3 record, the team set a new school record for most wins in a single season, showcasing their determination, teamwork, and unyielding commitment to excellence.

The season was marked by individual and collective achievements that will be remembered for years to come. Two of our standout athletes, Nora Ezike and Emma O’Brien, reached the monumental milestone of surpassing 1,000 career points—a testament to their hard work, dedication, and skill over their illustrious careers. In addition, one athlete, Nora Ezike, broke the school's single-game scoring record with a 40 point game at the Montini Holiday Tournament, further highlighting the extraordinary talent within our program.

This incredible season will be remembered as much for its impact on the record books as for the sense of camaraderie and achievement it fostered within our school. We are proud of our athletes, coaches, and the entire community for making this winter truly unforgettable. Nora Ezike and Emma O'Brien both earned All-State recognition for their excellent seasons. Emma was recognized as a Third Team All-State Athlete. Nora was selected as a First Team All-State Winner. Nora was also named to the Honorable Mention IHSA All-State Academic Team.

Special Olympics Basketball

Gold Team Finished with a Bronze in the District Tournament - Blue Team Finished with a Bronze in the District Tournament - White Team Finished with a Silver in the District Tournament

The blue, gold and white teams each played a full schedule this year. They improved with each game and positioned themselves for the Divisional Championships.

The LT Special Olympics hosted their annual Pack-the-Place event in front of a huge crowd for three exciting games.

In the district tournament, the LT Gold team finished with a Bronze finish. The LT Blue squad also finished with a Bronze. The LT White team finished the District Tournament with a Silver finish.

Bowling

Overall Record 6-4 - 3rd Place in the IHSA Regional - 7th Place in the IHSA Sectional

The LT Bowling team had another great season. They challenged for the top spots in many of the invitationals.

LT Bowling started their post season by finishing in 3rd place in the IHSA Regional. They were led by Danny Haley who finished in 4th place at the Regional with a score of 1328.

At the IHSA Sectional, the Lions took 7th place as a team. Nolan Deines qualified for the state meet as an individual. Nolan went on to compete at the state meet to finish his senior year.

Competitive Cheer

West Suburban Conference Champions - Placed in 3rd in the IHSA Sectional - Qualified for State - Finished in 10th Place in State

The competitive cheer team had another tremendous season in the winter of 2024-25. They wanted to continue to build on previous successes in past years and continue to improve in the state final ranking.

The competitive cheer team had some quality performances during their regular season. They finished their regular season with a West Suburban Conference Championship by finishing in first place in the twelve team competition.

LT finished their season with a strong postseason push. They finished in 3rd place in their IHSA Sectional in the Coed Division to qualify for state for the fourth year in a row. At state, they placed in the top 10 to advance to day two of the state tournament for the first time ever. They went on to finish in tenth place for their best finish at state in program history.

Girls Gymnastics

2-2 Dual Meet Record - 2nd Place in the IHSA Regional

The girls gymnastics team continued to improve all season long. One highlight was finishing in 2nd place in the Hinsdale South Hornet Invite.

The Lions hosted the IHSA Regional and performed very well. They finished in second place in the Regional to the eventual State Champion Downers Grove Coop.

At the Sectional Meet, three gymnasts qualified for the state meet. Dahlia Highland qualified on the vault, Ava Hepokoski qualified on the balance beam and Emmy Bertucci qualified on both the Balance Beam and the Floor Exercise.

Boys Swimming and Diving

6-2 Record in Dual Meets - 4-1 Record in the WSC - 2nd Place WSC - 2nd Place in the IHSA Sectional - 11th Place in State

The boys swimming and diving team had another great year. Despite the incredibly difficult schedule, they were still able to earn a 6-2 record in dual meets. They also won the Marmion Cadet Relay Invitational, the Barrington Invite and the Downers Grove North Invitational.

The Lions hosted the IHSA Sectional Meet to begin their post season competition. With multiple personal best times at the tail end of the year, the boys swimming and diving team was able to finish in 2nd place in the IHSA Sectional. They qualified nine swimmers and divers to the state meet. LT qualified in all three relays and seven individual events.

The boys competed extremely well in the state meet to finish the season in 11th place in state. There were five state medalists and All-State swimmers. The All-State swimmers were Declan Vahey, Jake Thorell, Jack Hannon, Matthew Ferguson and Lachlan Gantt. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Lachlan Gantt, Jack Hannon, Matthew Ferguson and Jake Thorell swam fast enough to automatically qualify them as an All-American time.

Wrestling

8-5 Record in Dual Meets - 3-3 Record in the WSC - 4th Place West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place in the IHSA Regional Meet

The Lions started the year with their annual alumni event. They started the season with a convincing win over Riverside-Brookfield to get the season off on the correct foot.

They went on to earn multiple individual medals at the Barrington, Wheaton-Warrenville South and Hinsdale Central Invitationals. They won the Wheaton-Warrenville Tournament and took second place at the IHSA Regional Meet. At the IHSA Regional, they qualified 8 wrestlers to the IHSA Sectional.

Jack Kutchek and Griff Powell both took third place at the sectional to qualify for the state meet. Griff went on to win his first two matches at state to earn All-State Honors by finishing in sixth place in the state in the 132 weight class.

Girls Wrestling

The girls wrestling team had their first complete season as a team in the winter of 2024-25. They competed in a full schedule both with the boys team and with their own quad and tournament schedule.

Sofia Turek won 1st place at 135 weight class at East Aurora, Antioch-Lakes and the WSC conference tournament. Jhania Wickert-Harris also won 1st place at 105 weigh class at the Lakes High School Girls Wrestling tournament.

Jhania Wickert-Harris, Ashley Uhler, Avi Gonzalez and Sofia Turek earned WSC Girls Wrestling All Conference Team. Avi Gonzalez also won 1st place at 110 weight class at the IHSA Girls Wrestling Regionals. She was the first female wrestler to qualify for the IHSA Sectional meet in program history.

The LT Winter Season was incredibly successful. There was two conference championships (Competitive Cheer and Girls Basketball), one IHSA Regional Champions (Girls Basketball) and two teams that qualified to the state competition (Competitive Cheer and Boys Swimming and Diving). LT also sent individuals to state in three other sports (Bowling, Girls Gymnastics and Wrestling). Three teams finished with a top twenty-five state finish (Boys Swimming and Diving (11th), Competitive Cheer (10th), Girls Basketball Ranked (7th in 4A)).

There were also 10 student athletes who attended the two National Letter of Intent signing days for the winter (Daniela Bojovic, Tyler Chambers, Luke Harrigan, Shane Harris, Tyler Kirk, Cooper Komsthoeft, Mack Long, Travis Stamm, Declan Vahey, Bobby Vespa, ).

Eight student-athletes earned All-State honors in three different sports:

  • Girls Basketball (2) (Nora Ezike and Emma O'Brien)
  • Boys Swimming and Diving (5) (Matt Ferguson, Lachlan Gantt, Jack Hannon, Jake Thorell and Declan Vahey)
  • Wrestling (1) (Griff Powell)

There were also 41 seniors who earned West Suburban Conference All-Academic status this winter.
