“Yajarra Jalbiyi” Unveiled
Yajarra Jalbiyi was unveiled as the official name of our accommodation village during a joint visit to Thunderbird last week by the KMS and Joombarn-buru Aboriginal Corporation Boards.
Following a welcome by Traditional Owner and Ranger Rona Charles, KMS Chair Alan Smith and JbAC Chair Wayne Bergmann both gave a short speech before unveiling the name plaque on a Kimberley Colourstone rock at the village.
The name translates to “Big Mob Camp” in the Nyikina language and helps us acknowledge the important connection between language and culture as part of our reconciliation journey.
KMS Board Visits Operations
KMS Board Directors recently visited Thunderbird and Broome as part of their monthly Board meeting schedule.
The Board spent two days at Thunderbird visiting the project, meeting staff, and also held a productive meeting with the Joombarn-buru Aboriginal Corporation Board.
In Broome, KMS Directors inspected product loading operations during a tour of the port as the vessel ‘Great Vanguard’ was being loaded with ilmenite.
