Principal update

Message from Mrs Harris

June has been such a busy month! We have had Sports Days, Year 6 swimming, Year 6 PGL, hockey masterclasses for all year groups, Year 1 phonics screening checks, Year 4 multiplication checks and Year 5 secondary school visits!

A reminder that when it is very hot, PE days may need to change to keep the children safe. Please remember to send your child with a hat and sun cream.

A big thank you to Blue Anchor Leisure for donating the bread this half term - it means we are able to provide toast for the children every morning. The staff and children here are very grateful

PGL!

Our Y6 cohort have spent a fun-filled weekend at PGL Caythorpe. The pupils and staff had an amazing time! Showing courage and team work like we have never seen before and showing true kindness to their peers- we were all so proud of their achievements over the weekend. For some it was their confidence and determination as they ran up the poles, abseiled down the tower or managed to pull the cord to release the giant swing. For others, it was the same grit and determination that allowed them to overcome a true fear and stand on the ledge, do the first section of the high ropes or pick up a bow and arrow for the first time. Each and every one of our children achieved something magnificent and proved to themselves that they can do anything they put their minds to. The children also had the adults belly laughing with their sing-alongs and one-liners and their group lead, Ru, commented that they were a school group they would not forget...in the best way!

Phenomenal Phonics!

Richmond Primary Academy is celebrating a fantastic achievement as pupils in Year 1 have excelled in the national Phonics Screening Check. The results show that 85% of our children passed the check with flying colours, reflecting the school’s commitment to early reading and literacy.

The Phonics Screening Check, taken by all Year 1 pupils across England, tests children’s ability to read words using their phonics knowledge. Our children’s success is the result of high quality daily phonics lessons, supportive and dedicated teaching staff, and strong partnerships with parents.

At Richmond we believe reading is the foundation for all learning, and these results show how dedicated our staff and families are to giving children the best start. With this strong foundation, the young learners at Richmond Primary Academy are well on their way to becoming confident, independent readers. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Sports Days!

This term has been very busy with sports days taking part in every year group. The weather was kind to us, and everyone had a fabulous time, watched by their families. EYFS and Years 1 and 2 completed all their activities on the day itself, whereas Years 3 to 6 completed their field events in the week preceding as usual.

The house winners were:

Years 1 and 2 –Holland

Years 3 and 4 –Chapman

Years 5 and 6 – Martin

EYFS-1st, 2nd and 3rd places received a sticker and everyone received a participation sticker and a medal.

Well Done Everyone!
