" Sculpture is the art of the intelligence."
Hello! My name is Rachel Dickerson and welcome to my ceramic sculpture portfolio. My sculptures are an exploration of organic forms, textures, and the fluidity of nature, often blurring the line between abstraction and realism. Through these ceramic creations, I aim to evoke a sense of curiosity, inviting viewers to interpret the pieces based on their own experiences and perceptions.
About Me
Hello! My name is Rachel Dickerson, I'm a multidisciplinary artist from Upper Marlboro, Maryland located in Prince George’s County. My creations celebrates the artistic potential of clay beyond traditional pottery and functional items. By focusing on hand-building techniques, I embrace the tactile nature of ceramics, allowing my hands to intuitively guide the creative process. This approach fosters a deep connection between the artist and the medium, reflecting my belief in the importance of embracing the gifts I have been blessed with.
Unlike conventional ceramic practices, my focus lies in creating abstract sculptures that evoke emotions and provoke thought. This departure from functionality allows me to explore organic forms and textures, inviting viewers to engage with the pieces on a sensory level. Each sculpture becomes a conversation piece, encouraging personal interpretations rooted in individual experiences and perceptions.
