Dear Bluejay Family, Happy Easter! He is risen—alleluia! I hope this joyful season has brought renewal and peace to your homes. While students and teachers enjoyed a well-deserved Easter break, there has been quite a bit of progress happening on campus that I am excited to share with you. First, we have been hard at work preparing for the construction of our new gym. Beginning Monday morning, fencing will be installed on the playground before recess begins. We know this will make the playground feel a bit different for our students, but this is an important and exciting step forward for St. Cecilia School. There is so much good to come, and we are grateful for your support and flexibility as we begin this process. We are also excited to welcome our new School Resource Officer and Third Grade Teacher to campus. Please be sure to read the introductions included below and join us in giving them a warm Bluejay welcome! As we continue celebrating the Easter season, we are reminded that this is a time of new life and hope. Even as our campus begins to look a little different, we trust in the good work God is doing in and through our school. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for the trust you place in us each day. Grace & Peace, Erin B. Henry Principal
"Behold, I make all things new." – Revelation 21:5
PLEASE WELCOME
CORPORAL KEY ALFRED
We are excited to announce our new School Resource Officer! Broussard Police Department (BPD) Corporal Key Alfred will begin his new assignment with us at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. “Key is a hard-working and well-established police officer,” said BPD Chief Vance Olivier. “He was selected to assume the incredible duty and responsibility of protecting the students, faculty, and staff at St. Cecilia. I know he will do a great job.” Cpl. Alfred has been with BPD for two years and was named BPD Officer of the Quarter in December 2025. He was born and raised in Carencro. A standout student-athlete at Carencro High School, he earned four Class 4A state championships in track and two in cross country, along with All-State honors and recognition as the 2018 All-Acadiana Track MVP. He went on to study Criminal Justice at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he continued his running career as a Ragin’ Cajun. Cpl Alfred shared, “Colossians 3:23 says, 'Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others.' I feel strongly that the Lord has led me to the Broussard community and this new assignment at St. Cecilia. I want to be a strong role model and mentor for the students at the school. I’m eager to get started.” Please join us in a welcoming Cpl. Key Alfred as a member of our Bluejay family! He spent some time on campus during the break getting the lay of the land in preparation for his next steps with us. You will likely begin to see him around this spring as he gets to know our campus.
MRS. AMBER MADDOX
Please join us in welcoming Amber Maddox to St. Cecilia as our newest 3rd grade teacher. Amber is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and brings five years of experience teaching 3rd grade in Lafayette Parish. She also spent time away from the classroom to focus on her family—a season she describes as both meaningful and life-giving. Amber and her husband, Justin, have a son, Jax, who is a member of our St. Cecilia community, making this transition especially joyful for their family. Her connection to our school already runs deep, and we are blessed to now welcome her as part of our faculty. Amber is passionate about creating a classroom where students feel safe, loved, and supported, believing that this foundation allows them to grow and thrive. Rooted in her faith, she is excited to walk alongside her students not only academically, but spiritually—helping them come to know Christ’s love each day. We are grateful that God has led Amber to St. Cecilia, and we look forward to the gifts she will share with our students, families, and community. Please help us give her a warm Bluejay welcome!
Join us for our school’s first-ever Night of the Arts on Friday, April 17! The evening begins with an Art Walk from 5:00–6:00 PM in the cafeteria, featuring student artwork from across grade levels. Stay for the Talent Show from 6:00–8:00 PM in the gym, showcasing performances by our students—including some never-before-seen acts! This is a free event open to all friends and families of our school. (Please note that no concessions will be offered this year.) We hope you will join us for this special evening celebrating the creativity and talents of our students!
Send In Your Photos
We’d love for parents to share photos of their students participating in school sporting events and other SCS-sponsored activities. Your snapshots help bring our community to life—send them our way so we can celebrate our students soaring both on and off the field! Email them to photos@scsbluejays.org.

Mother's day Mass
We have celebrated with our grandparents and dads, now we are excited to welcome our moms and mother figures to campus! After some discussion and feedback from last year, we made the change to this day in hopes to allow more moms to attend. Mass will be on Wednesday, April 29 at 1:00. We ask all moms to please let us know if you will attend or not by completing THIS FORM by April 24. This will help us with seating for you in the church and for our students. We will continue with our other traditions on this day. That format will be the same as in years past- after Mass everyone moves to gym for May Crowning and 1st grade Maypole. From there we will dismiss for the day.
