The Problem: There needs to be a better approach to the awareness and conservation of the ocean and marine life amongst the general public and average person. The Product: An online platform which functions as both a website and a mobile app, designed to reinvigorate ocean and marine life conservation efforts. The platform offers a range of features and incentives to engage users in cleanup events and environmental awareness.

Thesis Statement: Finpact is designed to maintain a relationship with the users by showcases their positive impact on the world around them through their efforts with the use of the platform.

Research:

Key Statistics: Despite living on Long Island, with access to many different beaches, not many of the people whom I have researched have taken part in any sort of cleanup or conservation opportunities. Most of the people I researched got their information on marine life with the use of social media, while also being somewhat familiar with the topic themselves.

Analysis: It seems that these cleanup or conservation opportunities are not enticing towards the general public, and even people who have somewhat of a familiarity or interest in marine life. The way these topics are advertised and spread around may also be contributing to people being turned away by such topics.

Target Audience: Children, who hopefully have somewhat of an interest in the ocean. The parents of these children as well, so that they could also still enjoy themselves while be willing to take their children to these sort of events with the use of Finpact. Marketing Strategy: Develop a user-friendly website and social media channels with engaging content tailored for both children and parents. This would also include regularly update social media platforms with success stories, event highlights, and user-generated content to maintain interest and encourage participation.

Branding: I wanted to create characters that would be appealing to people of all ages, but especially so that children could latch onto them. I decided to go for a simple style when drawing them, heavily inspired from the cartoon Oswald. I gave each of the characters one color with different shades to make them stand out against the tones of blue used throughout the app. The main seal is green to represent recycling, while also pairing with the blue of the ocean to represent the Earth itself.

Conclusion: Thanks so much for taking the time to go through my senior project! I loved creating it, and I'm hoping that it could lead to something and be further developed in the future. I would love to show it to the right people who could maybe make it a reality or use the core ideas for something greater. Either way, I love what I did and I know my work here is going to influence me for years to come.
