Women's Soccer Picks Up a Pair of Shutout Wins

The Mules went 2-0 on the road this week, blanking the University of New England Nor'Easters 3–0 on Tuesday and Conn. College 2–0 on Saturday.

Ella Caraluzzi

Against UNE, Abigail Jarvi struck twice off assists from Ella Caraluzzi, scoring in the 11th and 54th minutes. Claire Walsh added her first goal of the season to seal the result. The Mules dominated possession, finishing with a 21–8 shot advantage and six corner kicks while holding the hosts without one.

Colby carried that form into NESCAC play at Conn. College, where a strong second half lifted them to victory. Annie Liebich scored her first of the year in the 51st minute off a setup from Walsh, and Avery Del Col doubled the lead late to secure the three points. The Mules piled up 15 second-half shots and finished with a 17–4 edge overall while limiting the Camels to just two shots on target.

#13 Volleyball Tops #12 MIT

After a busy first few weeks to start the season, the Colby Volleyball team entertained a "slow" week with only two matches on the docket. Those two opponents, however, were the undefeated Wesleyan Cardinals and the 12th-ranked MIT Engineers. Earning a split, the Mules improved their record to 10-1.

Cyanne Jones, Brady Moseley

Friday night's clash with Wesleyan wasn't just the opening match of Colby's NESCAC schedule, but it was also a battle of the unbeatens. Wesleyan took the opening set before Colby evened the match by winning the second. Playing on their home court, the 2023 NESCAC Champions took the third (25-22) and fourth (30-28) sets to issue the Mules their first loss of the season.

Returning to a familiar arena Saturday at MIT (Colby played at MIT last season for the NCAA Tournament regional round), the Mules took the match in four sets (22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23) to knock off its first ranked opponent of the season. First-year Kendal Glover (headline photo) tallied career-highs with 11 kills and eight blocks.

Gabby Grujic

The Mules will host Bowdoin this Friday night for their lone match of the week. Game time is set for 7:00pm.

Men's Soccer Moves to 3-1-2 with Victory at St. Joe's, Draw at Conn.

Colby picked up a pair of hard-fought road results this week, earning a win at Saint Joseph’s and a late draw at Conn. College.

Jude Gussen

Tuesday night, after the Monks struck first in the eighth minute, the Mules responded with three unanswered goals before halftime. Will Kogelmann netted the equalizer off a feed from CJ Supan, and Anthony Bugliari added a pair of goals just four minutes apart, both assisted by Jude Gussen. Colby controlled play throughout, outshooting St. Joseph’s 23–5 and holding the hosts without a shot in the second half.

The Mules carried that momentum into Saturday’s trip to Conn. College, where they battled back late to earn a 1–1 draw. The Camels grabbed the lead just 90 seconds into the match, but Colby stayed within striking distance and broke through late in the 88th minute when Leo Robison (headline photo) scored his first collegiate goal. Both sides finished with single-digit shot totals in a tight contest, and the Mules earned a key road point in conference play.

CJ Supan

Colby (3-1-2, 0-1-2 NESCAC) remains on the road for the next three matchups starting with Endicott Tuesday night.

The Mules split a pair of closely contested road games, falling 3–2 in overtime at Conn. College on Saturday before bouncing back with a 2–1 shootout win at Western New England on Sunday.

Christina Sweeney

Christina Sweeney scored both of Colby’s goals against the Camels, tying the game at one with her first and then knotting the score at two with her second. The Mules registered 10 shots, six on goal, and three penalty corners, but came up just short falling in overtime.

The following day at Western New England, Sweeney continued her scoring streak with her fifth goal of the season, assisted by Catie McNulty, tying the game just 29 seconds after the Golden Bears took the 1-0 lead. Colby dominated offensively, finishing with 27 shots, 13 on goal, and 14 penalty corners, and secured the win in the shootout after two overtime periods. Football Issued First Defeat in Williamstown

Fresh off a thrilling victory a week ago to open the 2025 season, the Colby Football team traveled to Williamstown, Mass. to take on the 1-0 Ephs. The hosts controlled field position and tempo from the onset, extending a 17-0 halftime lead with three second-half scores, issuing the Mules their first loss of the season.

Declan McNamara

Williams held statistical favor in multiple categories, but the most significant was 364 yards gained on the ground, continuously extending drives. The Ephs were 10 of 14 on third down conversions, and had scores of four, seven, nine, 10, and 71 yards. The Mules collected 13 first downs of their own on the afternoon, but key drives were halted by four Colby turnovers.

Defensively Ameer White collected his second interception of the season when he halted a Williams drive in the second quarter with a pick in the end zone. Drew Ramos (headline photo) and Declan McNamara tallied career-highs in tackles with 12 and 10 respectively.
