- Eager to accelerate your degree progress? You can do so when you“Flex” your schedule this Spring at TAMIU. Enrollment is underway now for “Flex” Term undergraduate courses that compress class time length to 13 weeks. You can enroll in or add courses to their schedule that can help them complete their degree plan faster. Flex Term classes start Feb. 1 and end at the same time as regular term classes. Deadline to enroll is Tuesday, Feb. 6.
- Congratulations to our TAMIU Ballet Folklórico members who recently traveled to and performed at Disneyland Paris. In doing so, they became the FIRST Mexican Folkloric Dance Group to perform there. They’re under the direction of TAMIU Ballet Folklórico instructor Nayeli López. Find out more below.
- Congratulations to those students who have been selected Reading the Globe Ambassadors and will travel to Japan this Spring. Meet them and read more about the program below.
- And a final congratulations to our Dustdevil Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams who carved out impressive twin wins this weekend. The Men’s team were victorious against Western New Mexico, 86-63. The Women’s Team moves to 17-4 with their 83-66 win over the Western New Mexico Mustangs.

TAMIU ‘Flex’ Options Can Accelerate Degree Progress
TAMIU students who want to accelerate their degree progress still have a chance to do so. Enrollment is underway now for “Flex” Term undergraduate courses that compress class time length to 13 weeks.
Those interested in Flex Term undergraduate courses must enroll by Tuesday, Feb. 6.

TAMIU Continues Free 'FAFSA for U' Sessions on New Application
We're hosting a series of free FAFSA Drives to help students navigate the U.S. Education Department’s new Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Our next drive is happening this Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center Testing Center Lab 201.
TAMIU RTG Ambassadors Named, Traveling to Japan this Spring
Fifteen first-year TAMIU students will be traveling to Japan this Spring Break through TAMIU’s Reading the Globe (RTG) program.
This year’s 2023-2024 RTG Ambassadors are Mia Arguello, Guarino Cavazos, Ximena Del Campo López, Karla Gallardo, Barbara Garza, Lindsay Leal, Anna Ligart, Sierra Long, Lucio Martínez, Julian Ramírez, Paulina Salazar Salas, Daniela Sánchez Gomez, Evelyn Tovar, Daniel Trapero, and Marco Zapata.
Rhizome @ TAMIU
“Rhizome” is a multidisciplinary contemporary art project organized by Artist and Visiting Assistant Professor Crystal Wagner that will be created at TAMIU this Spring 2024. It involves the collaboration between faculty and students in the music, art, dance, theater, and humanities and the community at large.
Several opportunities will be offered for public participation, including Open Build Days, and printmaking workshops. Open Build Days are scheduled to occur every Friday beginning Jan. 26 and continuing through March 15, 2024, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) main lobby.
Coming Up: Printmaking workshops are scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25, from 1 - 5 p.m. in the CFPA Printmaking Studio, room 220 A
TAMIU Ranks 7th Among Most Affordable Online Master's Programs Nationwide
TAMIU was recognized among the top institutions nationwide providing the Most Affordable Online Master’s Programs, according to online source, Best Colleges' most recent ranking.
TAMIU ranks #7 in the list, which also includes California State University-Dominguez Hills, Stanford University, Duke University, University of Florida, and the University of North Florida.
TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Students Travel to France, First to Perform at Disneyland Paris
Twenty TAMIU Ballet Folklórico students recently returned from a performance in France upon an invitation extended by Disneyland Paris. Their performance marked the first-ever Mexican Folkloric Dance Group performance there.

TAMIU is a member of the Lone Star Conference and competes in 11 sports: volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.
