Founded in 1794 as Blount College, the University of Tennessee is one of the oldest public institutions in the nation. Located on a scenic campus along the Tennessee River, UT offers a wide range of academic opportunities with more than 300 degree programs across undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels, serving over 30,000 undergraduate students. At its core, Tennessee is a classic college town set in Knoxville, just minutes from downtown and less than an hour from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. ACADEMICS
The Thornton Athletics Student Life Center is a state-of-the-art, 33,000 sq/ft facility that houses the Tennessee Tailored program, which encompasses academic counseling and career development services for student-athletes. In 2025 the Women's Tennis Program recorded highest spring term GPA of any team on campus since 2017 with team GPA of 3.78
DORM/ATHLETIC HALL
All first-year student-athletes are required to live in the Student-Athlete Hall, which offers a supportive environment and convenient access to academic and athletic resources during their transition to college life. After the freshman year, student-athletes have the option to explore alternative housing, including apartments and off-campus living. These options are available within walking distance or a short drive or bus ride from campus, with many featuring scenic views and a variety of living arrangements to suit individual preferences.
