Principally Speaking

We are incredibly grateful for the support of so many! 🤝 From all of us at Jones Academy, thank you for making our Apex Leadership Glow Run such a tremendous success in raising funds for student activities and teacher giveback. Your generosity has truly made a difference! A big shout-out to all the volunteers who helped count laps and cheer on our students—you kept the energy high and the smiles wide! 💙 And thank you to everyone who joined us for Donuts with Dads—it was such a big hit! Our appreciation is overflowing for this amazing community. ¡Estamos increíblemente agradecidos por el apoyo de tantos! 🤝 De parte de todos en Jones Academy, gracias por hacer de nuestro Apex Leadership Glow Run un éxito tremendo en la recaudación de fondos para actividades estudiantiles y apoyo a nuestros maestros. ¡Su generosidad realmente ha marcado la diferencia! Un gran agradecimiento a todos los voluntarios que ayudaron a contar las vueltas de los estudiantes y los animaron con tanta energía. 💙 También, gracias a todos los que participaron en Donas con Papás—¡fue todo un éxito! New Annual Consent

As permitted by Senate Bill 12 (passed during the 89th Legislative session in Texas), we are requesting your annual consent for your child to receive routine school-based physical and mental health-related services from qualified school staff, including nurses, counselors, and other school personnel, as needed. This consent ensures timely and equitable access to care that promotes student safety, wellness, and readiness to learn. Consent is valid for the entire school year unless revoked in writing. Students without a completed form will be considered as declined consent. Según lo permite el Proyecto de Ley Senatorial 12 (aprobado durante la 89.ª sesión legislativa de Texas), solicitamos su consentimiento anual para que su hijo/a reciba servicios rutinarios de salud física y mental en la escuela por parte de personal escolar calificado, incluyendo enfermeras, consejeros y demás personal escolar, según sea necesario. Este consentimiento garantiza un acceso oportuno y equitativo a la atención que promueve la seguridad, el bienestar y la preparación para el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Dual Language Immersion Tips

Exposure to and exploration of Hispanic culture is incredibly valuable for our dual language immersion students. One great local resource is La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth, a Hispanic-themed shopping mall that highlights Hispanic-inspired stores, a Spanish-speaking cinema, and vibrant cultural experiences with music and dance groups. We’re especially excited that our very own teacher assistant, Mr. Rodriguez, known as Mago Gus, will be performing a bilingual magic show tomorrow, September 13 from 3–4 PM at La Gran Plaza. 🎩✨ La exposición y la exploración de la cultura hispana son increíblemente valiosas para nuestros estudiantes de inmersión bilingüe. Un excelente recurso local es La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth, un centro comercial de temática hispana que destaca por sus tiendas de inspiración hispana, un cine en español y vibrantes experiencias culturales con grupos de música y danza. Nos entusiasma especialmente que nuestro asistente de maestro, el Sr. Rodríguez, conocido como Mago Gus, presente un espectáculo de magia bilingüe mañana, 13 de septiembre, de 3:00 a 4:00 p.m. en La Gran Plaza. 🎩

The following resources outline what each student can do within the four language domains at their current level, what is expected at the next level, and how we can assist them in leveling up. Counselor Corner

Character Counts: Responsibility

I want to take a moment to share an update with you regarding our school counseling program. Due to the recent Senate Bill 12, there have been some adjustments made to the counseling curriculum across the state. One of the most exciting changes is an added emphasis on character education. Each month, we will highlight and practice an important character trait with our students.

For the month of September, our focus is on Responsibility.

What is Responsibility?

Responsibility means being dependable, making good choices, and taking accountability for one’s actions. Students show responsibility by:

• Completing their classwork and homework on time
• Taking care of their belongings and school materials
• Following through with promises or commitments
• Owning up to mistakes and learning from them

How Parents Can Support at Home

You play such an important role in reinforcing these skills at home. Here are a few simple ways to encourage responsibility:

• Give your child age-appropriate chores (like feeding a pet, setting the table, or keeping their room tidy).
• Praise your child when they follow through on tasks without being reminded.
• Model responsibility by talking through how you manage commitments at work or home.
• Encourage your child to reflect on mistakes and think of solutions rather than focusing on blame.

Together, we can help our students grow into responsible, caring individuals. Thank you for your continued support as we work to build strong character traits in our children.

Kindness Crew

On behalf of the kindness crew teacher leaders, we wanted to say thank you so much to all who applied to be part of the Kindness Crew! Results were sent home in students’ backpacks this afternoon. This was a very tough decision because we had so many wonderful applicants. If your child was not selected this time, please encourage them to keep spreading kindness every day—being kind matters far beyond any crew or title. We are so proud of all our students for wanting to make a difference!
